CherkessMohyeddin Qandour, 117 minutes, in Arabic and Circassian, with English or French subtitles, 2010.The film tells the story of the arrival of Circassians to Ottoman Transjordan at the end of the19th century. It shows the different aspects of two cultures - the Bedouin and the Circassian- who were thrown together unwillingly by historical providence, creating a perfect recipe forcontroversy and violence but saved by the miraculous powers of innocent and unexpectedlove. It is the story of two young souls who fall passionately in love and by so doing createthe opportunity for conflict and bloodshed, as well as for potential harmony and peacefulcoexistence. Perforated MemorySandra Madi, 62 minutes, Arabic with English subtitles, 2008.“Perforated Memory” tells the story of a group of ex-guerrillas (Fedayeen) who were activemembers in the Palestinian struggle through its various stages. Many wounded guerrillasreside today in Jordan where they suffer from neglect and some kind of “amnesia”, withregard to the sacrifices they have made. His attempts to build a normal life and support his eightchildren and two wives in an impoverished neighborhood of Zarqa – a city still haunted by thespecter of Al-Zarqawi - are constantly stumbling.
