2 Cover and inset photo by Tatyana Segalina Mission Statement The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide services to anyone in need, regardless of race or religion; to advocate justice, human dignity and quality of life; and to call all people to join in these efforts; thereby reflecting the compassion of God in Christ. Results The Jacksonville Regional Office of Catholic Charities provided services through seven major programs to 18,071 people on the First Coast in 2011–12 under the guidance and direction of a passionate staff, faithful volunteers and a dedicated Board of Directors. This year Catholic Charities - Jacksonville managed three new programs, Apostleship of the Sea, Immigration and Legalization Services and Ministry for Persons with Disabilities. We also began offering English as a Second Language Instruction through our Refugee Resettlement Program. The person next to you could be a family member, a neighbor, someone at the grocery store, or someone you happen to drive past. Her words encourage us to spread the spirit of compassion as far as we are able, through the diverse programs that Catholic Charities provides. We strive to put that compassion into action by serving people in different ways, and treating each and every individual with dignity and respect. We respond to the needs of families who are in crisis and may lose their homes. We care for persons who come to our shores to escape persecution and help immigrants who want to become legal citizens of this great country just as our ancestors have done before us. We offer life-enriching opportunities to children who live everyday with profound disabilities and comfort seafarers from around the globe. We counsel women struggling with unplanned pregnancies and support families in the adoption process. We provide meals for those who do not have the means to put food on their table. Our spirit of compassion is matched only by our commitment to fiscal accountability. We work hard to ensure that every donated dollar is accounted for and applied in the most efficient manner. It is with heartfelt appreciation that we acknowledge the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our board members, volunteers and staff who provide the means and the resources to achieve our goals. The people that we serve and the stories they share inspire us to do our work each day; to continue to provide our services and also to find new and better ways to help the most vulnerable among us. It is our hope that you will read or see something here that inspires you, so that together we can continue to help Mother Teresa’s words ring true. Lisa Obringer Jennifer Garizio Chair, Board of Directors 2011-12 Executive Director Catholic Charities Bureau, Inc., Diocese of St. Augustine is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA). The accreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of an organization’s administrative operations and its service delivery practices which are measured against national standards. COA has approved the accreditation of Catholic Charities Bureau, Inc. through December, 2015. COA accreditation establishes credibility that the organization is effective and professionally sound. It provides assurance to all of our stakeholders that Catholic Charities is delivering needed services in our community, conducting its operations successfully, and managing its funds effectively.

As good stewards of donations and grants, Catholic Charities is committed to providing transparency and accountability to donors and funders. The Agency’s Fiscal Department provides up-to-date financial recording and reporting, including departmental and annual budgets, necessary schedules and financial analysis to management and the Finance Committee. An independent annual audit is performed and reviewed by the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
