BasicOperationThrottleUp ThrottleupthepowertoyourtrackbypressingthetopendoftheThrottleControlRockerSwitchfirmlyforabout5seconds,untiltheengine'sheadlightandlightedcarsburnbright. ThenputtheengineintomotionbyfirmlypressingtheDirectionbutton(holditforapproximately1second)onyourremoteonce. IftheenginedoesnotbegintomoveassoonasyoufirmlypresstheDirectionbutton,youmaynothavesentenoughvoltagetothetracktomakethetrainmove. Pressthethrottleupforafewmoresecondsuntilthetrainbeginstomove.Toincreaseordecreasetrackvoltage,andthereforetrainspeed,pressthethrottlecontrolrockerswitch. Pressingthetopendofthethrottlewillincreasevoltageandspeed.Pressingthebottomendofthethrottlewilldecreasevoltageandspeed.Theenginewillmaintainthespeedyousetafteryoureleasethethrottleuntilyoupressitagaintochangethevoltageandspeed.Bell -Tosoundthebell,firmlypressandreleasetheBellbutton.Toturnthebelloff,pressandreleasetheBellbuttonagain. Thebellwillcontinuetoringfromthetimeyouturnitonuntilyoupressandreleasethebuttonagaintoturnitoff.Horn/Whistle -Tosoundthehorn,firmlypresstheHorn/Whistlebutton.Thehornwillsoundforaslongasyoucontinuetodepressthebutton. Speed ControlM.T.H.enginesequippedwithLoco-Soundhavespeedcontrolcapabilitiesthatallowtheenginetomaintainaconstantspeedupanddowngradesandaroundcurves,muchlikeanautomobilecruisecontrol. Youcanaddordropcarsontherun,andtheenginewillmaintainthespeedyouset.Theengineisprogrammedtostartwiththespeedcontrolfeatureactivated,youcanopttoturnitoff. Thismeanstheengine'sspeedwillfallasitlaborsupahillandincreaseasittravelsdownward. Itisalsoaffectedbytheadditionorreleasingofcarswhileontherun.Becausetheenginewillrunmoreslowlyatagiventhrottlevoltagewhenspeedcontrolisonthanwhenitisoff,youshouldadjustthethrottletoalowerpowerlevelforoperationwithspeedcontrolofftoavoidhigh-speedderailments.Toturnspeedcontrolonandoff, puttheengineinneutral,thenquicklytapthetransformer'sHornbuttononetimethenquicklytaptheBellbuttontwotimes,allowingapproximately½secondtolapsebetweeneachquickbuttonpress. Repeatthe1horn,2bellscodetoreturnittotheothercondition. Youwillwanttodothisduringtheinitialneutraluponstart-upifyouevercouplethisenginetoanotherenginethatisnotequippedwithspeedcontroltoavoidderailmentanddamagingthemotorsineitherengine. STEPBronzeDriveGearWormGear!!!!Oncethemotormountscrewhasbeenremoved,pullthemotorawayfromthetruckblockandlightlycoatthemotorwormgearandbronzedrivegear(inthetruckblock)withgrease.Reassemblethetruckandmotor,beingcarefulnottopinchthepickupandgroundwiresbetweenthetruckblockandmotormount.Repeattheprocedureifenginehasmorethanonemotor.Reassemblethechassisandbody,beingcarefulthatthewiresarenotcaughtbetweenthebodyandchassis,asthiscanleadtoashortthatmaydamagetheelectronicsbeyondrepair.STEP! Lubricatetheoutsidetruckblockidleranddrivegearswithgreaseoccasionally.TruckBlockIdlerDriveGearCleaningtheWheels,TiresandTrackPeriodicallycheckthelocomotivewheelsandpickupsfordirtandbuildup,whichcancausepoorelectricalcontactandtractionandprematurelywearouttheneoprenetractiontires. Wheelsandtirescanbecleanedusingdenatured(notrubbing)alcoholappliedwithacottonswab.Tocleanthetrack,useRailKingTrackCleaningFluidandacleanragordenatured(notrubbing)alcohol. Unplugthetransformerandwipetherailsofthetrack,turningtheragfrequentlytoensurethatyouareusingcleanclothontherails. BecausethemanufacturingprocessleavesacoatingonRealTraxcenterrail,youshouldcleantherailsafterthefirst30minutesofuse(youmaynoticeanelectricalsmellduringinitialuseasthecoatingwearsoff;thisisnormal). Thereafter,keepaneyeonthetrackandcleanitwhenitgetsdirtytoensuregoodelectricalcontactandtolengthenthelifeofthetires.Traction TireReplacement InstructionsYourlocomotiveisequippedwithtwoneoprenerubbertractiontiresontherearsetofflangeddrivers.
