X-Men First ClassSCORE: 62X-Men First Classis a reboot ofthe X-Men franchise.A way forthe franchise tobring in youngerpeople to appealto the youngerdemographic. Athirteen and olderonly movie is limitingthe audiencesomewhat. X-Menfans won’t carethough. Seeinga young CharlesXavier help out a young Magnetois about all they will need.Of course characters like Havoc,Beast, Banshee, and Mystiquehelp the franchise. X-Men FirstClass is set against the Cubanmissile crisis. The mutants are theonly ones who can save the worldfrom nuclear war.X-Men First Class containsmany disturbing images. There are images of murder, partial nudity, women in their underwear, blood, gore, and death.Lots of death. A few years ago thislevel of content would have receivedan ‘R’ for Restricted rating. But the bar keeps getting movedallowing worse content in everyfollowing movie release. Thereare also a few images of kindnessin X-Men First Class. The specialeffects of the mutant powers isexceptional. Especially in termsof the Hellfire Club. The music in X-Men FirstClass is thematic, and fits thetone of the movie. The languageis another story. I can understandcalling mutants freaks, but theprofanity made no sense. This justlimits the potential audience, andlowers the score of the movie. Theacting in X-Men First Class is topnotch. The variousemotionsare acted outextremely well.Kevin Bacondoes a fantasticjob in his role.X-MenFirst Class has afew special featuresthat fanswill be interestedin. Mainlythey are behindthe scenes ofhow the movie came to be. Obviouslythere is a lot of politics thatgo on in Hollywood. Amazing thatthe ‘tolerant of diversity’ crowdhas such cut throat politics. The storyline in X-MenFirst Class flows like a pristineriver. The storyline makes completesense, and could be believable. The formation of the first X-Men team shows conflict, resolve, and betrayal. The bad guys arecompletely convinced of theircourse of action.Whenever we talk X-Menwe have to deal with one set ofreligious beliefs - evolution. X-Men First Class has this permeatingthrough it from all angles. Itis ironic that the Nazis followedDarwinism, and this franchise followsit and demonizes the Nazisat the same time. When they haveso much in common. - LukePublisher: 20th Century FoxSystem: DVDRating: ‘PG-13’ for Parents Strongly Cautioned{intense sequences of action and violence, somesexual content including brief partial nudity andlanguage}Graphics: 53%Sounds: 62%Replay/Extras: 70%Gameplay: 77%Family Friendly Factor: 50%Family Friendly Gaming 34
