DevotionalHeart n MindI ran across an interesting verserecently that prompted thismonths devotional. Proverbs4:23 Above all else, guard yourheart, for everything you doflows from it. In American culturewe do not think about ourhearts very often. Unless it isin reference to heart disease, orlove. Which too often for toomany is actually just lust, andthat has more to do with theireyes than their hearts. We Americans thinkwith our minds way too often. We follow logic, and whatmakes the most sense. Romans8:5 Those who live accordingto the flesh have their minds seton what the flesh desires; butthose who live in accordancewith the Spirit have their mindsset on what the Spirit desires. Our minds have a direct connectionto whether we are livingfor God or for the world. Whatinfluences your mind? Is it thethings of the world or the thingsof God?How many people tellyou to guard your heart? Howmany people tell you to be carefulwhat you let into your mind?Have you followed their wisecounsel? There are people outthere who want to deceive you.Are you even aware of thattruth? Romans 16:18 For suchpeople are not serving our LordChrist, but their own appetites.By smooth talk and flattery theydeceive the minds of naive people.Few want to think of themselvesas naive. But it comesdown to a lack of understandingand experience in certain situations.I was naive my first yearat E3. Every year after that I wasno longer naive. I knew what toexpect from the show. I knewwhere to go and when.I encourage you to be onguard from those who will tryand deceive you. Expect themto come to you in little things. They are not coming to you torob a bank. They will come andtell you its okay to take that penfrom your place of employment. They have a whole box of them.Stealing that one little pen won’tmatter. They move you little bylittle away from God.What are we supposed todo with our minds and hearts?Mark 12:30 Love the Lord yourGod with all your heart and withall your soul and with all yourmind and with all your strength. That does not mean ignore Godwhen you are watching the footballgame, or when some attractivewoman walks by, or whenwe pick a video game to play,or when some other temptationcomes out way. What about you? Areyou going to live completelyfor God? Or will you be a hypocrite?Keep God in this box forSunday mornings, and Wednesdaynights? Or will you loveGod with all?God bless you and yours,- Paul BuryJesus,I know that I am a sinnerand need Your forgiveness.Nothing I can do of my ownpower will give me true joy. Ibelieve that You died for mysins. I want to turn from myenslavement to sins, and repentof them. I now invite You tocome into my heart and life. Iwant to trust and follow You asmy personal Lord and Savior. Iwelcome the transforming powerof the Holy Spirit. Amen.Family Friendly Gaming 74

So what are peoplethinking about when they aredigitally murdering? I cansee nothing good coming fromthoughts of murdering otherpeople. The more exposure onehas to that in their mind, themore likely they are to act onthose thoughts. Do we reallyneed people to act on thoughtslike that?Polls have been takenin America to determine eightypercent of Americans claimto be Christian.
