The Key to Effective SurveillanceSystem ControlThe Sony YS-DX316/P (color) and YS-DX216/CE (black and white) Full Duplex Multiplexers aredesigned for use in multiple camera monitoring and recording systems. Both units have 16 video inputs, which accept both asynchronous and synchronous signals, allowing up to 16 video channels to bedisplayed on a single monitor. The YS-DX316/P and YS-DX216/CE provide a high level of functionality in surveillance systems, including sequential source switching, picture zoom and freeze, and powerful alarm functions. A widevariety of split screen arrangements allow the user to monitor the optimum combination of images fordifferent surveillance situations. Two monitor outputs are provided for even greater monitoring flexibility. With these and many more features, the YS-DX316/P and YS-DX216/CE multiplexers are makingan important contribution to efficient and effective monitoring and recording system control insurveillance systems.Multi-screen displayThe YS-DX316/P and YS-DX216/CE offer display combinations of live, playback, or simultaneous live and playback video. This flexibility lets you create the optimum monitoring environment for your particular application. Besides full screen andsequential display, there is also a choice of many different split screen options. Two monitor operationTwo MONITOR OUT ports allow very flexibleand efficient operation.Monitor 1 output:provides split screen (4, 7, 10, 13, 16), fullscreen, sequential display, x2 zoom andfreeze picture.Monitor 2 output:provides full screen and sequential display. Can also be used for spot monitoring.* Monitor 2 can also be set to display thesame configuration of images as Monitor 1.Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 comparisonMonitor 1 Monitor 2*Live Picture Playback Picture Live Picture OnlySplit Screen YES YES NOx 2 Zoom YES YES NOFreeze Function YES YES NOFull Screen YES YES YESSequential YES YES YESQuad Sequential YES YES NOLive on Playback — YES NOPlayback on Live YES — NOAlarm Display duringYESCamera live monitoring (16-division split screen)— YES (Full Screen)Alarm Display duringVCR playback— NO —

Field by field multiplex recordingUp to 16 camera inputs can be recorded on a single VCR. This is achieved by switching between the outputs ofconnected cameras field by field. In a standard (non-time lapse)recording mode, there areeither 60 fields per second(NTSC) or 50 fields per second(PAL). For example, when 16cameras are connected to themultiplexer, three fields ofeach camera output arerecorded every second(60/16=3.75 fields/s for NTSC,50/16=3.125 fields/s for PAL).With time lapse VCRs, longer recording is possible because fewer fields are recorded per second.YS-DX316/216Number of fields recorded per second, per camera withSVT-400 Real Action Time Lapse VCR (T-120 tape)Recording Mode Standard Time LapseDisplayed recording time 6H 18H 30H 48H 72H 96H 168H4-camera input 15 5 3.03 1.67 1.15 0.88 0.528-camera input 7.5 2.5 1.5 0.83 0.58 0.44 0.2616-camera input 3.75 1.25 0.75 0.42 0.29 0.22 0.13Switching speed when recording with SVT-L400 Time LapseVCR (T-120 tape)Switching speed : one fieldRecording Mode Standard Time LapseDisplayed recording time 6H 18H 30H 48H 72H 96H 168HRecording 4-camera input 0.07 0.2 0.33 0.6 0.87 1.13 1.93Intervals 8-camera input 0.13 0.4 0.67 1.2 1.73 2.27 3.87(seconds)16-camera input 0.26 0.8 1.33 2.4 3.47 4.53 7.73YS-DX316P/216CENumber of fields recorded per second, per camera withSVT-L230P Real Action Time Lapse VCR (T-180 tape)Recording Mode Standard Time LapseDisplayed recording time 6H 18H 30H 48H 72H4-camera input 12.5 4.17 2.5 1.39 0.968-camera input 6.25 2.08 1.25 0.69 0.4816-camera input 3.13 1.04 0.63 0.35 0.24Switching speed when recording with SVT-L230PTime Lapse VCR (T-180 tape)Switching speed : one fieldRecording Mode Standard Time LapseDisplayed recording time 6H 18H 30H 48H 72HRecording 4-camera input 0.08 0.24 0.4 0.72 1.04Intervals 8-camera input 0.16 0.48 0.8 1.44 2.08(seconds)16-camera input 0.32 0.96 1.6 2.88 4.16VCR switching speed controlYou can choose between two switching speeds when recording *:SP:In SP recording mode, each camera has one fieldrecorded at a time. The multiplexer thus switchesbetween cameras every field. This results in optimumcapture of picture motion.EP (NTSC)/LP (PAL):In EP or LP recording mode, each camera has threeconsecutive fields recorded at a time. The multiplexer thusswitches between cameras every three fields. This givesoptimum picture quality.* EP or LP modes are not available on all time lapse VCRs

High picture qualityThe YS-DX316/P and YS-DX216/CE provide high resolution of 450 TV lines in live modeand the following number of pixels:C (Chroma): 360 x 228 pixels (NTSC), 360 x 276 pixels (PAL)Y (Luminance): 720 x 228 pixels (NTSC), 720 x 276 pixels (PAL)Zoom and Freeze picture functionsZoom and Freeze picture functions add greater surveillance flexibility. The Zoom functioncan enhance the picture size by a factor of two, while the Freeze picture allows stillimages to be displayed on screen. The Zoom and Freeze picture functions can also beused together. For example, you can zoom in and then freeze the enlarged image. Thezoomed on-screen image can also be adjusted by using the shift buttons. Both Zoom andFreeze picture functions are available in live and playback modes.Powerful alarm functionsThe YS-DX316/P and YS-DX216/CE have 16 alarm sensor inputs corresponding to thecamera inputs. When an alarm signal is received through an ALARM INPUT terminal, thealarm buzzer sounds, and an “A” (indicating an alarm) appears on the screen. A connectedtime lapse VCR can also be activated through the multiplexer’s ALARM OUTPUT.Several other alarm controls make these multiplexers a powerful security tool:Freeze, zoom and buzzer functions:programmable freeze, zoom and buzzer functions in 16-division split screen mode foralarm inputs on MONITOR 1Independent monitoring:automatically provides independent monitoring of channels in which alarms occur onMONITOR 2Alarm log:stores up to 100 alarm events (camera number, date and time)Alarm duration:alarm duration mode to a connected VCR is programmableOn screen displayEasy on-screen setupThe on-screen menu allows you to easily take advantage of the many features of theYS-DX316/P and YS-DX216/CE.Character GeneratorA built-in character generator enables you to superimpose camera titles, date and timeinformation onto the display screen.
