He has tremendous experience and skill, and he has applied <strong>the</strong>se wi<strong>the</strong>nergy and dedication in supporting scientific and operational tasks in Antarctica.As chief pilot on a number <strong>of</strong> challenging projects, Mr Pullinger has had responsibility for<strong>the</strong> overall planning and safety <strong>of</strong> helicopter support. His contribution to <strong>the</strong> planning andefficient execution <strong>of</strong> scientific operations during deep field glaciological programs in <strong>the</strong>Prince Charles Mountains has been a key factor in <strong>the</strong> success <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se projects.Mr Pullinger has an outstanding safety record and is diligent in reinforcing <strong>the</strong> safetyrequirements <strong>of</strong> any operation.He has developed innovative approaches to highly challenging aviation requirements. Hiscontribution to <strong>the</strong> planning and efficient execution <strong>of</strong> scientific operations and hiswillingness to discuss and consider new and innovative ways <strong>of</strong> achieving <strong>the</strong> challengingrequirements <strong>of</strong> scientific operations have been central to <strong>the</strong> success <strong>of</strong> many Antarcticscience projects.Through careful planning and trialling <strong>of</strong> new techniques, Mr Pullinger has developed safeand effective methods to transport difficult and potentially dangerous loads in typicallycapricious Antarctic conditions.Mr Pullinger has made a unique and significant contribution to Australia's Antarcticprogram. He has delivered outstanding aviation support with pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism, dedication,innovation and uncompromising standards. His unique insight, innovative thinking, andoverall commitment to <strong>the</strong> safe delivery <strong>of</strong> Australia's Antarctic program set him apart asan outstanding Antarctic expeditioner.
