Specifically <strong>in</strong> his roles with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Combat Data System Centreand, subsequently, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Naval Systems Warfare Agency, he led <strong>the</strong> direct support anddevelopment <strong>of</strong> Combat Data Systems and Weapons Systems for Perth Class Guided MissileDestroyers and Adelaide Class Frigates, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g systems <strong>in</strong> service dur<strong>in</strong>g more recentconflicts <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Middle East.Lieutenant Commander Peter Anthony de MASKENS RAN, NSWFor meritorious service <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> maritime communications and <strong>in</strong>formationsystems.Lieutenant Commander de Maskens has served at <strong>the</strong> forefront <strong>of</strong> change <strong>in</strong> Fleetcommunications. On countless occasions, he has prepared and supervised <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>troduction<strong>of</strong> new communication equipment, <strong>the</strong>reby provid<strong>in</strong>g an outstand<strong>in</strong>g contribution to Fleetcapability and <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> a network-enabled force. Dur<strong>in</strong>g each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se operations Corporal Crutchettdeployed <strong>in</strong>to positions above his worn rank and was <strong>in</strong>strumental <strong>in</strong> establish<strong>in</strong>g andma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> strategic networks that supported each operation.
