<strong>LIQUOR</strong> <strong>LICENSING</strong> <strong>FEES</strong>The <strong>SA</strong> Government has called for comment on the proposed introductions of annual liquorlicensing fees. Written submission must be provided to Consumer and Business Services byclose of business Wednesday 18 April, 2012.Different fees apply to different categories of licence. The base ANNUAL fees are $100 or$700. There are also additional loadings based on the size of the venue and trading times.Two loadings have been proposed. If a licence authorises trade after 2.00am then the firstloading applies, if the licence authorises trade past 4.00am then the second loading applies.All licensees will pay the base loading and in addition depending on trading times a loadingwill also apply.For <strong>Restaurant</strong> Licenses the following fees are proposed:All that close before2amAll that close after2am with capacityless than 200Close after 2am withcapacity more than200SpecialCircumstancesLicense - CatererBase After 2pm After 4pmLevel 1 = $100Level 2 = $700Level 3 = $700 + $2,500 + $2,500Level 1 = $ 100Members will need to check their licences to determine the trading hours and the capacity ofthe venue currently authorised to determine the base fee and any loadings.Licences with accommodation are authorised to sell liquor at any time to a lodger, howeversales to lodgers after 2.00am or after 4.00am WILL NOT attract the additional loadings.Licenses can be changed to reduce the fees and loadings.Licensees who wish to reduce their trading hours to 2.00am, or reduce the capacity of thevenue to below 200 person, can apply to vary their licences.


All licensees who currently have the right to serve liquor with or ancillary to a meal after2.00am and who do not want to retain that right must apply to change their licence.Consumer and Business Services (formerly OLGC) will be writing to all licensees shortly toconfirm trading rights, it is essential that licensees who DO NOT WANT TO OPEN AFTER2.00am (including liquor sales with food) must clearly indicate that this right is not required.CBS will advise when applications can be lodged – applications forms are being developedand will be available on their website www.cbs.sa.gov.auApplications to vary licenses to reduce the fees will not be required to pay a fee. Membersare reminded that some leases require landlord consent to reduce trading rights. Membersshould check their lease and where necessary seek approval from the landlord beforelodging an application.Members requiring assistance with calculating their potential fees or require assistance withlodging an application to reduce their liability should contact the Association on (08) 83517837.
