NEWSLETTER n.8Christmas marketin the Manger SquareOn December 2, 2007, the <strong>Italian</strong> Consulate General in Jerusalemparticipated with a stand at the annual Christmas Market inManger Square in Bethlehem organized by the Bethlehem PeaceCenter.The <strong>Italian</strong> booth displayed typical <strong>Italian</strong> wine, food and handicraftproducts donated from many <strong>Italian</strong> Cities and Regions: the Regionsof SICILY, PUGLIA and TUSCANY, the Province of NAPOLI andthe Municipalities of SCIACCA and REGGIO EMILIA.The booth also benefited from the donations of two <strong>Italian</strong> NGOs,UCODEP and ACS, both committed to the implementation of <strong>Italian</strong><strong>Cooperation</strong> projects in the Palestinian Territories in partnership withPalestinian NGOs.Christmas brings with it a lot of enthusiasm, intimate joy, goodwill andspirit of solidarity. This is what attracted many of the Bethlehem andInternational visitors around the stands set up by different Countrieswho participated and displayed, for sale ,their typical products.The market was a great success. The <strong>Italian</strong> stand managed to attractmany of the visitors and within only a few hours the productswere all sold out. The significant proceeds raised from the marketwere donated to Crèche Center in Bethlehem. The Center accommodatesand assists abandoned babies.The contributions and the work of those committed in the CrècheCenter prove that actions are those that count. “Our thoughts, howevergood they may be, are false pearls as long as they are nottransformed into actions.
