Alchemilla wichuraeNational StatusCounty StatusEndangeredThe account of this species follows the text ofa recent review by Margaret Bradshaw.This species has an Arctic–Sub-arcticdistribution, found in Scotland mostly above615m and in the North of England near to thesouthern limit of its distribution as low as250m.A wichurae was collected by Walters onIngleborough (VC 64) in 1946 and inTeesdale in 1947 (VC 66 & 69). It has beenfound mainly as single plants in a fewmeadows, upland pastures and on limestoneoutcrops. Several records occur by waterfallsover the whin sill.The main areas of distribution of A. wichuraeare in Scotland where it is scarce. In Englandit is on the southern fringe of its range. A.wichurae is thinly scattered in Teesdale,Craven and The Lakes. The loss of thePennine and Lakes District plants wouldconstitute a serious contraction of range.The changes in the records of A. wichuraeare from 27 to 15. Most of the losses are fromthe meadow sites.
