It is re<strong>com</strong>mended that you replace thewoolen mat once a month.Activated CarbonChemical Filter MediaThe activated Filter Carbon chemically removes substances such aspesticides and remedies from the water and adsorbs odors andsubstances that cause muddying and yellowing of the water. This filtermedium is to be used on demand on a short term basis. It isre<strong>com</strong>mended that you replace the filter carbon every month.<strong>Tetratec</strong> ® BB Bio Filter BallsBiological Filter MediaUseful bacteria are bred in the small spaces of the ball. Impurities arethen divided and neutralized biologically. The balls are reusable aslong as the dirt on the surface can be removed by washing withtank water.<strong>Tetratec</strong> ® BF Biological Filter Foam Physical/BiologicalFilter MediaThe fine sponge surface allows the production of useful bacteria,which break up dirt particles and biologically filter impurities. It isre<strong>com</strong>mended that you change the sponge once every six months.<strong>Tetratec</strong> ® CR Ceramic Filter RingsPhysical Filter MediaThese ceramic rings physicaly filter impurities while distributing thewater flow in a number of directions ensuring that water passes evenlythrough the filter. They should be replaced when dirt on the surfaceof the rings cannot be removed by washing with tank water.16Affixing the Motor HeadAfter cleaning, reassemble the parts in the opposite order settingthe impeller drive magnet and then the impeller cover. Twist thecover clockwise towards “CLOSE” to securely lock the cover inplace.Once cleaning is <strong>com</strong>pleted, ensure the filter media container is correctly aligned before affixing the motorhead (please refer to point No. 2 .173031Assembling the Hose Adapter UnitCentralLeverInsert the Hose Adaptor UnitNote: Do not move the central lever until the hose adapter isfixed.Place the filter in an upright position. Insert the hose adaptor unitinto the motor head while the central lever is raised.After inserting the adaptor unit into the motor head push thecentral lever down. Open the valves of the hose adaptor again.After washing the media replace them in the filter mediacontainer as per the original order (refer to page 2 or 3).14Hose CleaningDirt and algae build up on the inside of the hoses can reduce water flow.
