The Science Behind Orbital Cutting ActionOrbital action, as compared to a traditional chop action, reduces the area of contact between the blade and the sample. Minimumarea of contact cutting (MACC) gives a constant, high unit force resulting in the most effi cient cutting. This enables fast, deformationfree cutting even with diffi cult-to-cutmaterials and large samples. The orbitalaction also allows coolant fl ow into theinterior of the cut, increasing cooling andpreventing sample burn.OrbitalWork PieceChopWork PieceThe DELTA has industrial push button controls for the mostcommonly used operations: Emergency Stop, Start, Stop,Pause, and Rapid Advance. The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)with touch pad controls is used for setting the cuttingparameters.Designed for easy operation, the default screen sets themost commonly used functions: Feed Rate, Blade Diameter,Cutting Length, Motor ON/OFF, Coolant ON/OFF and LinearFeed ON/OFF. The operator can change the feed rate at anytime during the cut.The second LCD screen controls less frequently usedfunctions including the Units of Measure, Language, SoftStart/Stop, and Saves/Recalls cutting methods. Soft Start/Stop automatically reduces the feed rate at the beginningand end of cut for delicate or irregularly shaped samples.The operator can save and recall up to four cutting methods.The ability to change the cutting parameters from all threeprogramming screens, plus the user-friendly page iconmaximizes convenience.The DELTA features a spacious cutting chamber toaccommodate large and irregular shaped parts. Four10-2326 T-Slot Beds fit into the DELTA and provide dualdirection sample positioning. Since adequate coolant isnecessary for good cutting the DELTA has a full 6 gallons(22 liters) per minute flow rate. Four jets optimize thepresentation of the coolant to the wheel and sample.
