Segments DescriptionDespatch Advice Heading SectionUNH - M 1BGM - M 1DTM - C 10- Message headerThis segment is used to head, identify and specify a message.- Beginning of messageThis segment is used to indicate the type and function of the message and totransmit the identifying number.- Date/time/periodALI - C 5 - Additional informationMEA - C 5MOA - C 5SG1 - C 10RFF - M 1DTM - C 1SG2 - C 99NAD - M 1LOC - C 10SG3 - C 10RFF - M 1SG4 - C 10This segment is used to specify the date of the Despatch Advice or any datesrelated to the delivery of goods.This segment is used to indicate special conditions or the country of origin for thewhole message.- MeasurementsThis segment is used to specify the physical measurements of weight and volume,and/or storage limitations of the entire shipment.- Monetary amountThis segment is used to specify monetary amounts related to the despatch advicewhich are required by the consignee to prepare customs clearance procedures.- RFF-DTMA group of segments giving references where necessary, their dates relating to thewhole message, e.g. contract number.- ReferenceThis segment is used to provide references that apply to the whole transaction.- Date/time/periodThis segment is used to specify dates relating to the references given in theprevious RFF segment.- NAD-LOC-SG3-SG4A group of segments identifying names, addresses, and locations relevant to thewhole Despatch Advice.- Name and addressThis segment is used to identify the trading partners involved in the DespatchAdvice message. Identification of the supplier and buyer is recommended in theDespatch Advice. Additionally, the shipper and delivery party may be identified whendifferent from the supplier or buyer.- Place/location identificationThis segment is used to indicate more precise locations related to the partyidentified in the NAD segment. It is recommended that GLN -Format n13 - be usedfor the identification of all locations.- RFFA group of segments giving references relevant only to the specified party ratherthan the whole message.- ReferenceThis segment is used to specify references related to the party identified in theprevious NAD segment.- CTA-COMA group of segments to identify the people, functions, departments and appropriatenumbers to whom communication should be directed.© Copyright GS1 - 18 - Edition 2008

This segment group provides thecapability to give the hierarchical packing relationships.
