CRUISING YACHT CLUB OF AUSTRALIAANNUAL REPORT Year end March 31 2010MEMBER SERVICES COMMITTEE REPORTDirector John Markos, ChairmanI have taken over the Chair of this Committee from MichaelCranitch at the beginning of this financial year. I would liketo thank Michael for his efforts and stewardship of thisCommittee over the eight years he has been both a memberand Chairman of the Committee. I believe there have beensubstantial benefits for members that have been achievedduring Michael’s watch. This year we have seen the addition of several members tothe Committee and I would like to thank those who haveparticipated at the meetings with me which includes DirectorDavid Champtaloup, Val Mallett, Janey Treleaven (representingthe Associates), Shahrzad Vahebzadeh and most recentlyAlex Frampton. In addition the Committee has supportand direct involvement with two of the Club’s managers,Marina Gibson (Senior Duty Manager) and Jennifer Crooks(Communications). One of the primary functions of the Members ServicesCommittee is to oversee that the services provided by theClub continue to benefit the members and furthermorethat there are opportunities to grow the membership orembark on activities which might increase the amenities forthe members generally. This Club functions at large with the support of manyvolunteers and it is appropriate to acknowledge here therole played by the Associates Committee for their continuedsupport and their involvement in so many events which area part of the fabric of the Clubs activities. Janey will elaboratefurther on these activities in her report.Breakfast Club support acknowledgedIt is also important to acknowledge the great contributionof the members of the Breakfast Club for quite a number ofyears. Michael Cranitch has foreshadowed in last year’s reportand as recently as prize presentations during the Audi WinterSeries that we run the risk of this valuable service fallingaway for the lack of replenishment of volunteers to take theplace of those who have served the Breakfast Club, in someinstances for 20 years. The funds raised from their activitiescontribute to the additional amenities for the members. If you believe that you can support in any way, even on arostered basis, then we would encourage you to step forwardand discuss it with any of the members of the Breakfast Clubor Mark Woolf. There are many other volunteers who deserve accoladesfor their contributions. Without those contributions the Clubwould falter. There are other acknowledgements contained inthe Annual Report. The Club also benefits from the generosity of many sponsors. It is appropriate to acknowledge and thank the sponsors whosupport us with the weekly Members’ Badge Draw.
