Other preventive methods includeour promotion of various sports and recreationalactivities through our Total Staff Club.1

We constantly improve the curative aspects of ourhealth delivery systems through the continuousimprovement of the Policies, Processes and meansavailable for health delivery. This year’s preventive health campaign whichimpacts on the wellbeing of all of us, will be carriedto all our operational locations including the remoteproduction sites which we are very emphatic inintegrating into the mainstream of our corporate lifeand activities. It is an opportunity once again todemonstrate TEPNG’s and indeed, the Total Group’sdeep commitment to the promotion of quality life forits most valuable asset - Human asset. The 2008 campaign theme; “Metabolic Syndrome”,(the triad of Obesity, Hypertension and Diabetes) andtheir possible complication; Kidney Failure has beencarefully and thoroughly selected. It is a disease triadwith a “diversity undertone” as it affects all races, and even sometimes, all ages. We therefore stand toreap numerous benefits from the campaign, withspillover benefits to our respective families.A healthy workforce is a happy and productiveworkforce. These invariably translate to a healthy andenjoyable family / retirement life. Healthy living isalso one of the recommended and validated stressmanagement approaches. We recognize that thewellbeing of our employees is the cornerstone of oursuccess.2

I have no doubt that the Consultants will present tous, practical ideas to inspire healthier choices in oureveryday life. We need to learn what to do, tomaintain health and stay healthy for life. It is apreventive health Initiative which teaches us to bepro-active. The health-promoting skills / behaviourswe acquire would prevent lifestyle-inducedavoidable chronic illnesses. This campaign in general, is aimed at sensitizing andre-sensitizing all staff on the individual and corporatebenefits of healthy living / positive lifestyle changes, based on the premise that small, sustained lifestylechanges give big health rewards.I urge you all to reap maximum benefits from thiscampaign which I hereby declare open.Guy MAURICEMD/CEOOctober 13, 20083
