CS119 – 12-04CERTI-VEX ® AC25ACRYLIC CONCRETE CURING AND SEALING COMPOUNDASTM C-1315 • GLOSSVOC compliant: 285 GR./Liter or 2.38#/Gal. Cure & SealDESCRIPTIONCERTI-VEX AC25 is a 100% styrene acrylic co-polymerbased curing, sealing, hardening, dustproofing and waterrepellent compound. When applied, it quickly dries to a hardclear film that is tough, chemical resistant, long lasting andglossy. The product is ideal for use on interior and exteriorfloors, walls, architectural sections and as a base coat for avariety of top coatings.Certi-Vex AC25 forms a clear film thatprovides superior shine that enhances the appearance ofarchitectural concrete.Certi-Vex AC25 is formulated from customized styreneacrylic resins manufactured by Vexcon Chemicals especiallyfor use on cementitious surfaces. The formulation contains nomodifiers or extenders that can cause cure and seal to yellow, blush or look non-glossy. Certi-Vex AC25 provides anexcellent base for most adhesives, paints and a variety oftopcoats. The product acts as a prime coat considerablyimproving adhesion to and preventing lifting of paint, tileadhesives, elastomeric coatings and other toppings. Theseproducts meet the requirements of the Tile Adhesion Test ofthe Resilient Tile Institute and the Tile Adhesion TestRequirements of ASTM-C-1315BENEFITS• Economical ASTM 1315 sealer• Provides for complete development of concrete• Certi-Vex AC25 may be applied to damp but not wetsurfaces• Seals and hardens surface reducing cleaning andmaintenance• Excellent protection against staining, attack by alkali, oil, cleaners and common industrial chemicals• Prevents efflorescence, dusting and spalling• Breathable• Quick drying• Excellent base for adhesives• Re-coatable and paintable• Seals stamped and decorated concrete.• Apply to damp surfaces without whitening or loss ofadhesion• Surfaces look newer and brighter• Can apply to 20° FAPPLICATIONProduct is supplied at the proper consistency for application, anddilution will reduce efficiency. Thoroughly mix before applying.Apply by low-pressure high solids commercial grade sprayer withneoprene fittings. The sprayer must be clean, dry and free of solvents. If cleaning with solvents is required, use Certi-Vex ® EquipmentCleaner and flush thoroughly with water before use. Clean sprayer asdirected between applications to ensure best results. If sprayer is notavailable, use a brush or ¼” roller. If using a roller or applicator, donot overwork the material. Coat in one direction only. Overworkedmaterial can become stringy and gum up. Coat uniformly leaving nogaps, slips or excess. Material should not be allowed to puddle. Toprotect the sealed floor from ongoing construction dust, dirt anddebris, use Certi-Vex ® Talc Release, data sheet #OP132 until allconstruction work is completed. UseCerti-Vex ® Grip, data sheet#OP115 to improve non-slip profile.CURING AND SEALING NEW CONCRETEApply Certi-Vex AC25 to still damp freshly finished concreteas soon as the surface cannot be marred and water sheendisappears. Do not apply over free standing water. Ifapplication is delayed, concrete must be kept wet (preferablyby water spray mist) until product can be applied. If concreteis allowed to dry use Certi-Vex ® Concrete Etch &Efflorescence Remover to clean and prepare the surface.Apply first coat at 300 sq.ft. /gal (7.5 m 2 /L) on porous floors.A second coat is recommended for long term durability. SeeSecond Coat section.SEALING EXISTING CONCRETETo provide long term protection and a glossy shine, apply tosurfaces that are properly repaired and structurally sound andcleaned of all dirt, oil, grease and foreign matter. Use one ofVexcon’s concrete cleaners and stain removal products toproperly clean the surface prior to application. Use Certi-Vex ®Concrete Stripper to remove old sealers, epoxies, urethanes, adhesives, curing compound and floor waxes. Prior to applicationa test area must be performed to determine proper application rateand required surface preparation. To determine that the concrete ispenetrable perform a water absorbency test by applying water to arepresentative portion of the prepared concrete floor. A properlyprepared surface when dry will immediately absorb clean waterwithout any surface beading effects. If required use Certi-VexEtch & Efflorescence Remover to improve sealerpenetration.Apply Certi-VexAC25 as directed above at 400-500sq.ft. /gal (10-12.5 m 2 /L) on hard non-porous floors and 250-300sq.ft. /gal (6.2-7.5 m 2 /L) on porous floors. A second coat isrecommended for long term durability and gloss. See Second Coatsection.

SECOND COATAfter application of the first coat a second coat may beapplied when the surface has dried. Apply second coat at 400-500 sq.ft. /gal (10-12.5 m 2 /L).MAINTENANCESpills should be removed promptly and cleaned with a highquality commercial detergent. Floors should be cleanedregularly. Periodic reapplication may be required as the sealerwears off.TOPCOATS AND ADHESIVESCerti-Vex AC25 cured concrete can be topcoated with avariety of paint, adhesives and mastics, a minimum of 28 daysafter application. It is strongly suggested that a test area beapplied prior to coating the entire surface, since products canadhere to concrete in varying degrees. Concrete cured withCerti-Vex AC25 is typically topcoated without incident, however, it is advisable to check with the manufacturer of thetopcoat for any precautionary information.SPECIFICATIONS/COMPLIANCE• ASTM C 1315 Type 1, Class B• AASHTO M-148• ASTM C 309 Type 1 Class A&B• Federal specification TTC0800A (GSA FSS) Type 1.• USDA, ADA and ASTM 2047 non-slip• Passes 500 hours weatherometer resistance as measured byASTM G53Test reports are available upon request.SPECIAL NOTES• To assist in application 200 sq.ft. /gal wet film isapproximately equal to the thickness of a sheet of paper• Will tend to show rubber burns or tire marks• Will cause bleeding of bituminous surfaces• May cause mottling of colored surfaces• Not gasoline resistant.
