More information will be provided in anemail to be sent to parents <strong>of</strong> Middle School students.Learning EnhancementNext week all Year 7 and Year 8 students and Year 9 new students will sit for a series <strong>of</strong> literacy and numeracytests. Their purpose is to assist teachers in assessing students’ abilities in key curriculum areas and to designlessons accordingly. The information also helps with the identification <strong>of</strong> talented students and this is useful forteachers in preparing extension activities. In addition, the responses help to identify students who may experiencelearning difficulties and would benefit from gaining extra assistance from the Learning Enhancement teachers,Mrs Brunckhorst and Ms Petavrakis (Literacy) and Mr Argyris (Numeracy). Parents will be contacted over thenext couple <strong>of</strong> weeks if their daughters are to be <strong>of</strong>fered additional academic assistance in Term 1. This will alsoapply to continuing students who may have received additional support last year. Students’ progress is monitoredthroughout the year and discussions are held formally at regular Special Needs meetings.Middle School Support GroupAll Middle School parents are warmly invited to attend the Morning Tea and AGM to be held at the Water SportsFacility on Thursday 14 February commencing at 8.30am.Year 7 Camp: 20-22 FebruaryYear 7 students will be attending a compulsory camp at Kindilan, an outdoor education centre in the RedlandsShire. It has well-established facilities and experienced staff. The students will be engaged in a variety <strong>of</strong>activities, with the major objectives being to develop students’ skills in an outdoor environment and to build effectiveworking relationships between students, and between students and their teachers.
