Sutton Secondary Plan Review StudyThe purpose <strong>of</strong> the Review Study is to update and revise the SuttonSecondary Plan. In general, this will include:• Determining the vision, goals and objectives <strong>of</strong> the community over the next 20years;• Updating the environmental mapping and policies, using the latest availableinformation from the <strong>Town</strong>, Province, Region and the Conservation Authority;• Determining the land base required to accommodate the appropriate amount<strong>of</strong> residential, commercial, institutional and industrial development over the next20 years, and then if required adjusting the extent and location <strong>of</strong> the UrbanService Boundary to accommodate future growth;• Reviewing and revising, where appropriate, the land use designations andpolicies to direct and manage new growth;• Creating special policies for existing and future commercial areas, including thecore areas <strong>of</strong> Sutton and Jackson’s Point and the Dalton Road and BaselineRoad Corridors; and,• Developing Urban Design and Architectural Control Guidelines to guide futuredevelopment within the Secondary Plan Area.<strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Georgina</strong>SUTTON SECONDARY PLAN REVIEW STUDY9


Provincial and Regional PolicyProvincial Policy Statement (2005)• Provides broad overall direction on matters related to land use planning anddevelopment in Ontario while supporting improved land use planning andmanagement in order to accommodate appropriate development to meet futureneeds.
