<strong>Grade</strong> 5 Summer ReadingDue: Monday September 9 th , 2013In <strong>Grade</strong> 5, we focus on many different genres of reading. <strong>For</strong>summer reading, you are asked to choose a total of 3 books,each from a different genre of literature.You should then write a short summary about what you read.You may type it, or write it neatly. Summaries should be 2 or 3paragraphs, written in your own words. In your summary, youshould explain what the book was about. Feel free to discussthe plot, the main characters, your favorite part, etc.On the back of this page is a list of suggested books for 5 thgraders. If you have other books in mind that you might like toread instead, you are welcome to do so! Please just be surethat they are appropriate for <strong>Grade</strong> 5, and be sure to choosebooks from 3 of the different genres.Have a great summer!Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. MacCune, and Mr. McCarthy
