Jon Wilson <strong>Lion</strong>s Volleyball <strong>Camp</strong>Director Jon Wilson, seven-timeAtlantic Coast Conference championwhile head coach at Duke University,became head coach of the Columbiavolleyball team in December 2007.Wilson, who won over 300 games atDuke, has also coached in the Ivy Leagueas an assistant at the University of Pennsylvania, and was headcoach of women’s volleyball at Rice University. During his15-year tenure with Duke, Wilson’s teams posted a record of301-187 and appeared in seven NCAA tournaments, advancingto the Sweet 16 in 1984, 1993 and 1994. Wilson wasnamed ACC Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1993, and hisstudent-athletes were named first-team <strong>All</strong>-ACC 36 times.Two were named Academic <strong>All</strong>-America.While at Rice, Wilson led the Owls to a 19-11 season in 2003.From 1984 to 1988, Wilson consulted with the French Women’sNational Team, helping them qualify for two EuropeanChampionships. Most recently, Wilson has been coaching inHouston with the Texas Tornados Volleyball Club, one of thenation’s premier junior programs. He has also been coachingmiddle school and high school boys at the St. John’s School, anationally recognized prep school that sends many graduatesto the Ivy League. A 1977 graduate of the University ofMassachusetts, Wilson earned a B.A. in Anthropology, as wellas a Master’s from Wheaton College in 1996. She was named the United States Field HockeyAssociation Player of the Year for the second time in2003, also receiving the distinction in 2000.In more than 10 years with the USA Team, Beach trainedin its full-time residency program and competed inmajor competitions including the Olympic Games inAtlanta in 1996. <strong>The</strong> team won silver medals at the PanAmerican Games in 1999 and 2003. Beach alsoparticipated in the World Cup in 1998 and 2003.Assistant Jana Woolley is inher first season as a Columbia assistantcoach. Woolley previously served as anassistant coach at the University ofNorth Carolina for eight years andhelped UNC to NCAA titles in 1995,1996 and 1997.Program: Dream Big Field Hockey <strong>Camp</strong> is anopportunity for athletes to sharpen their field hockeyskills. <strong>The</strong> camp curriculum is designed to improve theplayers’ fundamental skills and advance theirunderstanding of the game. Dream Big Field Hockey<strong>Camp</strong> will challenge the camper to play at a highlevel with coaching from some of the top collegecoaches, collegiate student-athletes, and USA Nationalteam members.
