Marching Eagles Advance to Semi-State CompetitionThe Marching Eagles have added a newchapter to the band’s history. Aftermaking a re-appearance at Regionals, the Marching Eagles earned a covetedgold rating and, more importantly, aspot among Indiana’s elite at the Semi-State competition. The band stepped on to the field atChesterton looking to raise the barwith their best performance yet. Theatmosphere was electric; it was do-or-diefor the Eagles, who hoped to capitalizeon an already great season.CCHS came into the competitionranked 9 th in North Division in Class Bby IndianaMarching.com, and theyhoped to make some noise and rise inthe rankings. But the rankings didn’tmean a thing to the Eagles, who knowthat nothing is ever certain in their lineof performance. It was a tough week ofpractice for the band, and they ran, reran, and triple-ran through their show, cleaning every detail, in the pursuit ofperfection. They couldn’t rest untiltheir dreams had been confirmed andthey had their ticket to the Semi-Stateshow at Warren Central. And their dreams came true! After astunning performance which any bandwould have been proud of, the Eaglesthemselves confirmed that they weremoving on. The moment that it wasannounced the Eagles would performat Semi-State seemed to be a motion ofagreement from the judges. However, there was still work to bedone. The cold andwindy weather greatly affected theband’s performance both musically andvisually. However, even with the possibilityof an indoor performance looming, the band was able to overcome theobstacles that mother nature had presentedand gave the performance of alifetime. The Marching Eagles finished fiveplaces higher than predicted andearned their highest score at an ISSMAcompetition in six years. Although theydid not advance to state, everyone wasvery proud of the band’s efforts. “I amextremely pleased with our band’s performanceat Semi-State,” said Mr. CrissThe band then ended their season withanother piece of history added.
