High Point WinnersJohnnie GreenwayClifton GanusDon SpencerWayne Sme thersEx BerryhillPacing the other boys throughout the year, the five high point winnersdemonstrated their ability to maintain the ir places at the top of the li s t.Each was on various winning teams, all-star teams, and was always capablewhen the competition became toughest. All fought to the finish and rightlydeserved the reward of a jacket.Points were di s tributed as follows: Greenway 57, Ganus 55, Spencer 49,Sme thers 48, Berryhill 45.Hugh Rhodes, a <strong>Harding</strong> graduate of 1940, became theathletic direc tor las t fall in the absence of M. E. Berryhill .Under Rhodes' direction, the intramural program was carriedaut very successfully, with the student body showing anincreased interest in athletic activities. More students took onactive port in the intramurals, and competition was keen inboth boys' a nd girls' divisions for the honor of being amongthe fifteen high point winners.Although he was faced with various problems, Rhodesproved to be a good leader and was well liked by the studentbody. He carried on a lively program, and some form of athleticactivity was being conducted at all times during th e year, fromsoftball in the fall, to swimming at the end of the winter te rm.

Burl Dykes and Lynn Buffington, other winners of medals, ore notpictured.The Cords were crowned school champions at the end of the intramuralsoftball season. About fifty-five boys took port in the sport. Each did hi spart to help hi s team win.
