Our philosophy toswimming ensures that swimmers find their time inthe pool a challenging and positive experience. Ourprogram caters for beginners of age three right throughto elite level athletes.The Learn To Swim Program is focused on providingchildren and adults the opportunity to develop astrong relationship with the water by ensuring thatparticipants experience the water in a safe and funway. Our program is designed to create experiencesthat stimulate and develop the far and near senses,the nervous system, fine and gross motor skills andcognitive skills. Most importantly, we aim to provideparticipants with a positive experience that we hope willensure they will always enjoy their time in the water.The Squad Program caters for all ages. Our focus ison competitive swimming that is coached in a fun andsupportive environment. <strong>Sydney</strong> Uni <strong>Sport</strong> & Fitnesscoaching staff encourages all members to enjoyswimming as a sport and to enjoy being part of asuccessful and happy squad.The aim of our senior program is to give Australianathletes the chance to continue their sporting pursuitswhile getting an education at the same time - to providethe right balance in life now and in the future.<strong>Sydney</strong> UniSwim Club.SUSC caters for children 5 years + and encouragesit members to enjoy swimming as a sport throughcompeting. Activities provided by the club providea opportunity for swimmers to socialise with othermembers and practice race skills. Emphasis is on developing freestyle, backstroke,breaststroke and learning basic butterfly skills. A ‘Dryland’component, water safety, breathing skills and waterawareness are an integral part of this program. Min.requirement is to swim 50m of freestyle, backstroke andbreaststroke. Two sessions per week is recommended.DolphinsSuitable for young swimmers who are able to swim 100mof freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and some butterfly.Emphasis is on increasing endurance and improving stroketechnique. Competition skills are also gained. A ‘Dryland’component, water safety, breathing skills and waterawareness are an integral part of this program. Min. of twosessions per week is required for this squad.Junior FitnessThis squad caters for teenagers who can swim each of thefour strokes. Emphasis is on advanced stroke correction.This is a non-competitive squad. Participants can chooseeither 1 or 2 sessions per week.Junior CompetitiveThis squad caters for children who can swim eachstroke. Emphasis is on advanced stroke correction andimproving competitive skills. Swimmers in this group arerequired to compete on a regular basis in club and districtmeets, with an aim to qualify for Metropolitan and StateChampionships. A ‘Dryland’ component is an integral partof this program. Min. of four sessions per week is required,with a recommendation of five to six sessions.National AgeSwimmers in this squad must compete on a regular basisfor the <strong>Sydney</strong> <strong>University</strong> Swimming Club and must havereached State, National Age or Open level. The HeadCoach must approve entry into this squad. A ‘Dryland’component is an integral part of this program. Min. ofsix sessions per week is required - recommended eightsessions.National OpenThis squad is for the elite swimmer. The Head Coach mustapprove entry into this squad.Adult SquadThis squad trains for one hour and participants mustbe competent in all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke,breaststroke, and butterfly).Learn to SwimClass Descriptions.[ Children’s Classes ]Jelly FishSafety jumps, blowing bubbles, water awareness, dogpaddle, singing songs, playing games and lots of fun arean integral part of this program. Max. of 4 children perclass.Star FishThis class introduces basic freestyle and backstroke kick.An emphasis is placed on submerging, safety jump, backfloats and much more. Max. 5 children per class.TurtlesCoordination of freestyle, breathing, body rolls,backstroke, floats, and basic diving technique is taught.Max. 5 children per class.Clown FishBuilding on freestyle, backstroke, diving skills and bodyrolls. Max. 6 children per class.Sea HorsesRefining freestyle & backstroke skills & the introduction ofbreaststroke kick, dolphin kick & standing dives. Max. 7children per class.
