PAPERS PRESENTED 2011-2012 3rd to 11th May-2012: Faculty Dr R R Kulkarni attend IERDC - ICMEI - 2012 International Conference at Malaysia and present the Paper “Pay package is the major contemporary issue in the retention of the faculty in B-schools, An empirical study of North Karnataka ". 17th March-2012: Faculty Dr R R kulkarni, Sanjeev Rathod and Vanishri Mathad participated in the conference at Bapuji Institute of Mgt Studies at Davangere and presented papers. 9th March-2012: Faculty Nanda Inamdar presented a paper on employee engagement at Christ College Bangalore. GBS Faculty excel in the National Conference on ‘Entrepreneurship and Business Development in India – Issues and Cases’ conducted on 4 – November 2011 by Kousali Institute of Management Studies (KIMS) Karnatak University, Dharwad 1. GBS Faculties presented following papers in the conference and achieved glory. Business Cluster Development : A case study of Hubli Dharwad Chart 1 presented by Prof. Ashok Patil , Prof. Prasad Kulkarni and Prof. Chetan Hiremath received the 2nd best overall paper and 1 st in the track area 2. A role of Advertisement in the development of SME’s: a case study of Hubli Dharwad industrial area presented by Prof. M N Manik and Mr. Kiran Ambekar and Ms. Shilpa Miskin received the 2nd best paper award in the group. 3. Drivers of the Urban Entrepreneurship: An analysis of select businesses of Hubli Dharwad area presented by Dr. Prashant Yatgiri, Ms. Ashwini Mulkipatil and Mrs. Keerti Kulkarni was adjudged the 2n best paper in the area. 4. The paper on job satisfaction, the driver for business development presented by Dr. Ramakant Kulkarni, Tejaswini Patil and Mrs. Arati Vannur was one more addition to the paper in the seminar by GBS Faculty. 5. An independent paper presented by Prof. Mrs. Tazeentaj Mahat on the topic – The Advent of Micro finance and its commercialization received accolades in the conference BACK TO CONTENTS 84
ACADEMICS SPOT LIGHT 23rd April-2012: A special session on Stock Market by speaker Mr. NanaLal.Karva Promoter-Geerak Marketing,stock Broking Hubli, visited GBS, Mrs. Keerti Kulkarni was the faculty Coordinator. 30th April-2012: OB day observed at GBS by students of 2nd semester by organizing day long HR related activities under the aegis of HR Club. Faculty Tejaswini Coordinated. 2th April-2012: Ms Sandhya Vasudev trainer conducted session on emotional intelligence to the final year MBA students. Faculty Ms Vanishree coordinated the session. 3rd March-2012: Mr. Ashok Kelur, Branch Manager,GEPL Capital,Hubli addressed the students on Financial Institutions and Markets.He conducted a session on Secondary Market and Basics of Investment. He also addressed various tips for opening a De mat Account. Also followed by exhibition of Live Stock Market watch. The session was run for 2 Hrs from 2.30 to 4.30 pm respectively. Students participated actively during the session. 5th and 6th March,2012: The Yugas 2012 event was conducted by Oxford College, Hubli drawing in a pool of 14 teams participating from all over Karnataka State. Students of GBS Hubli, Mr. Nitin Katwe and Mr. Harvinder Singh were the contestants of GBS Hubli who passed through the various rounds securing the Runner up prize. 17th Dec-2011: INNOVATION: An IT event was conducted to update the students with current technological innovations that support all the sectors of business. The students will be able to realize the importance of technological innovations to contribute to the economy and society. The event is coordinated by Ms. Nandini R Desai, Lecturer. 13th Dec-2011:The guest lecture was organised by the students of Finance in MBFS subject. Mr.Chandru Hikadi (Credit Manager), HDFC Bank, Hubli was invited to share his knowledge of certain topics of MBFS. The session was on Consumer Loans, Vehicle Loans and Housing Loans. The session was intended to make students understand the practicality of the Loan market and understand the different facets of Loan i.e. assessing and Evaluation of Loan applications, Loan Sanctioning, Loan Disbursement etc. Emphasis was laid on the Consumer loans and different types of Vehicle loans and their details. It was a very good session with knowledge, exposure to practicality of bank's working. Students also got an opportunity to clear their doubts and myths that they carried with them about the loan market and banks. It was indeed a knowledgeable session. 8th to 11th Dec-2011: Dr. B H Agalgatti of Pune conducted sessions on Business Ethics for the final year MBA students covering various aspects of ethics and business. Ethical Decision making, ethical dilemma, ethical choices were the highlights of the discussion. Dr. Agalgatti holds wide range of qualifications concerning commerce, arts, business administration, law and doctorate. He is a resource person in various seminars and conferences. He is a sought after speaker in various institution. Having studied the Indian mythology deeply he has developed an excellent rapport with business and Indian ethics. 85
