Great care is taken to ensure student safety at all times. Althoughconstruction is done during school hours, the contractors work withadministration to provide the least possible interruption and impact to thestudents.DRESS & BEHAVIOR CODESRefer to the <strong>Helix</strong> website or <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong> for specific Dress andBehavior codes. As a reminder there are no warnings. All confiscated headgear will not be returned until the end of the year, ID’s must be visible abovethe waist. No electronic devices (IPods, cell phones, MP3, etc) during class.Confiscated devices can be picked up by parent in one week. Arriving morethan <strong>10</strong> minutes late to lock out = period truancy. Informationabout the Foundation and its programs can be found on the <strong>Helix</strong> home pageunder “Alumni”, or by contacting Jim Arnaiz at ext. 182.HELIX SUPPORT CENTERThe <strong>Helix</strong> Support Center is staffed by credentialed school social workers.They are mental health professionals trained to provide services related tostudents’ social and emotional adjustment to school, family and community.They work with students, their families and school personnel to determinewhat services would help most in their situations, and assist the family inmaking these connections. If your student or family needs assistance, pleasecontact our staff at ext. 227.LIBRARY<strong>Helix</strong> Library offers extended hours for student use. Library resourcesinclude student computers, online and print research materials and afterschooltutorial support. For hours, check the <strong>Helix</strong> website.PARENT COMMUNICATIONSThere are a number of ways to stay informed about the activities andprograms at <strong>Helix</strong>. The school website, www.helixcharter.net, provides linksto class website, athletics and school programs. On the Home Page parentswill find the “Daily Bulletin” which announces daily information aboutactivities and schedules. Additionally, the <strong>Helix</strong> PTSA produces a monthlynewsletter with school wide information as well as specific focus on gradelevels. The newsletter is available on-line at the PTSA link which is foundunder the <strong>Student</strong>/<strong>Parent</strong> tab on the <strong>Helix</strong> Home Page. Copies are alsoavailable in the school’s front office. Additionally <strong>Helix</strong> utilizes an automaticphone calling system to notify parents of student absences not cleared andany emergency situations.9 <strong>10</strong>
