Its intuitiveinterface is easy to learn and will be familiar to users with experience using legacy key filldevices.The Cryptographic Ignition Key (CIK) is required to power on the KIK-11, securing theunit against unauthorized operation. The user simply inserts the CIK, connects the KIK-11to the device being filled, and presses the appropriate slot button on the KIK-11 to fill theEnd Crypto Unit (ECU). During key loading, the KIK-11’s front-panel display shows theselected key’s title, slot number, and profile information.The CIK also determines which functions are available with user functions limited tokey-receive, key-load and supervisor functions that include KIK-11 configuration andprogramming. Harris’ proven Cryptographic Modernization (CMI) compliant Sierra II ASIC cryptographic module provides security services to the KIK-11 platform.With storage for up to 40 keys and 12 associated slots, the software-programmableKIK-11 is backwards-compatible with EKMS Tier 2 and 3 devices. It also supportsSINCGARS loadset data and modern key lengths and key types.The rugged design stands up to the most demanding of tactical missions. Relying on onlythree ‘AA’ commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) batteries for nearly 40 hours of operationalbattery life.
