Complaints and appealsThe Department of Social and Family Affairs (DSFA) deals directly withcomplaints about the service customers receive (for example delays, mistakesor other comments on services). If you are refused a social welfare paymentor get less than you expected, you can appeal the decision to the SocialWelfare Appeals Office (SWAO). This office operates independently of theDepartment of Social and Family Affairs. You should note that the AppealsOffice only deals with what are known as legislative schemes. Administrativeschemes, such as the Household Benefits scheme, do not come under theremit of the Appeals Office.
