It is intended as an aid for those in <strong>the</strong>h<strong>and</strong>ling of vaccines <strong>and</strong> does not claim to be comprehensive.1) Refrigerators <strong>and</strong> cold storage cabinetsMedical refrigerators are generally of a higher specification than domestic varieties,<strong>and</strong> may incorporate an internal fan. They are usually lockable.It would be a sensible precaution to validate any refrigerator intended for medicaluse by means of a <strong>the</strong>rmometer or temperature probes <strong>and</strong> also to maintain regularon-going checks on <strong>the</strong> temperatures to assess suitability for use. The mainselectrical lead should ideally be fitted in a spur point, which should be fused but notswitched.
