ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL PETROLEUM NEGOTIATORSWHO WE AREThe Association of International Petroleum Negotiators is a not‐for‐profit professional association, founded in 1981to enhance the professionalism of cross‐border energy negotiators throughout the world. It is now composed ofmore than 2,900 members in more than 80 countries, representing numerous international oil and gas companies,host governments, law firms and academic institutions. <strong>AIPN</strong> members come from a variety of disciplines:commercial, technical, academic and legal. The association hosts several quality events each year that providenetworking opportunities and provide valuable educational programs and tools.BECOME A MEMBERActive Membership is available to anyone who is engaged in, or who has an interest in engaging in, internationalnegotiations work, including students enrolled in a university or institution of higher learning. All members areassigned to one of <strong>AIPN</strong>’s eight regional chapters: Asia; Australia/Pacific; Canada; CIS; Europe/Africa; Latin America;Middle East; and United States. Regional chapters deliver services to its members at a local level.CONTINUING EDUCATION<strong>AIPN</strong> plays a vital role in the continuing education of its members. <strong>AIPN</strong> hosts two conferences and severalworkshops and regional chapter events annually, many of which offer continuing education credits. These eventsfeature influential speakers discussing emerging trends and critical issues. All <strong>AIPN</strong> events allow attendees tonetwork and develop new business opportunities. The <strong>AIPN</strong> Advisor newsletter, Journal of World Energy Law andBusiness, and research papers are other sources of continuing education that keep members apprised of emergingtrends in the energy industry.MODEL CONTRACTS<strong>AIPN</strong>’s Model Contracts provide an invaluable service to the energy industry, significantly decreasing the time ittakes to finalize a deal. These contracts are intended to be neutral and balanced, and to provide a template includingfrequently used alternatives and optional clauses.
