MANUAL LPR CORROSION RATE METER“RECORDING YOUR STEEL REINFORCEMENT CORROSION”

IntroductionThe hand held manual Linear Polarisation Resistance (LPR) meter or Portable Data CollectionSystem (PDCS) is used to carry out measurements of current corrosion rates of steelreinforcement in concrete from embedded retrofit LPR probes and the BAC portable LPR probe set.Technical DataThe PDCS is housed in a rugged machined Aluminium case and the PDCS uses the linearpolarisation resistance corrosion rate measurement technique. It is a self contained batterypowered system which provides compatibility with the relevant probes.Corrosion rate range covered by the PDCS is from 0.2µm to 5mm/year for a 100 squarecentimetres surface area test electrode. All measurement functions are selectable using the system’s interface menu system. The PDCSmeasures the corrosion potential (Ecorr) and corrosion rate automatically by selecting theappropriate menu. The results will be displayed on the PDCS screen. The PDCS will read the unique electronic identification chip within the retrofit probesautomatically. The PDCS digitally measures the corrosion potential of the test electrode with respect to areference (half cell) electrode and applies a 20mV anodic polarisation using precisionpotentiostat circuitry and a third, inert auxiliary electrode. After a short period of polarisation the system measures the polarisation current and outputs adigitally generated voltage proportional to this current and hence to the corrosion rate. Thepolarisation is then removed and the test cell disconnected.Features• Linear PolarisationResistance technique• Large corrosion rate range• Rugged case• Identification chip reading• Standard 4mm banana Plugs• Portable• Battery powered• USB download portSpecificationEnclosure dimensionsWeightPower supply batteryTemperature RangeCorrosion potentialCorrosion rate surfaceArea (Max)160 x 75 x 220mm2.5kgRechargeable Batteries-40 to 70 deg C-1024 to 1024mV0.2µm to 5mm/year100 square cmPart Number: 160 004 0199BAC CORROSION CONTROL LTDStafford Park 11, Telford, Shropshire, TF3 3AY, UKTel +44 (0) 1952 290321Fax +44 (0) 1952 290325Email: sales@bacgroup.comWebsite: www.bacgroup.comscan me
