Please see the Applicant Information Kit for more details.Your opportunityYour responsibilitiesThis is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced administrator to take on aposition managing a team that helps vulnerable and disadvantaged <strong>Queensland</strong>erssecure <strong>grants</strong> of aid for legal representation. The Grants Operational Teamadministers funding for legal services in line with federal and state governmentfunding priorities. The team process more than 40,000 legal aid applications eachyear.As a senior <strong>grants</strong> <strong>officer</strong>, you will be responsible for a team of <strong>grants</strong> <strong>officer</strong>s,supporting them to make decisions about a client’s eligibility to receive a grant of aidfor legal representation. You will provide your team with coaching, direction andadvice, and identify training needs and opportunities to help them reach theirpotential. You will also have the opportunity to identify ways to improve processesand procedures to ensure we are delivering a high-quality service that exceeds theexpectations of our clients and stakeholders.Manage a team of <strong>grants</strong> <strong>officer</strong>s, including providing performance managementand feedback, recruitment, leave management and other human resourceactivities.Support team members’ ongoing development by providing induction, on-the-jobtraining, coaching and mentoring.Provide advice and support to <strong>grants</strong> <strong>officer</strong>s in regional offices.Lead, monitor and report on the team’s operational performance.Supervise applications being processed and where necessary, manage complexmatters.1


Allocate new preferred supplier law firms to team members.Help investigate and resolve complaints between clients and external legalpractitioners.Communicate with clients and external legal practitioners by telephone, inwriting, and face-to-face about sensitive or complex <strong>grants</strong> matters.Review and provide feedback on submissions and coordinate ministerialresponses about requests for aid.Help deliver briefing sessions with external legal practitioners to provideinformation and advice about <strong>Legal</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong> systems and processes.Actively participate in team planning and ensure the team complies with allcorporate responsibilities.Participate in service improvement activities, including contributing to the GrantsHandbook, checklists and other projects as required.Your core capabilitiesMerit and performance will be assessed on these core capabilities:You have knowledge of <strong>grants</strong> procedures and have knowledge of legalpractises, procedures and terminology gained through experience in a legalenvironment.You can build and sustain relationships with team members and colleagues andcontribute to their professional development, including providing clear guidance,constructive feedback and mentoring.You can communicate effectively with clients with complex needs and externalstakeholders, and can resolve issues and complaints.You prepare written information such as submissions in a clear, succinct andaccurate manner.You plan ahead and monitor task progress to ensure deadlines are met.Your qualificationsThere are no mandatory qualifications for this position.22
