Miguel & Photos by Deidra CarlyleThe <strong>Ak</strong>-<strong>Chin</strong> A’s little league squadtook to the diamond in the town of GilaBend in attempts to make another run atcapturing a tournament title prior to theend of the season.The A’s did get to the finals but theirattempts fell short by 4 points as theirrivals, the Chui Chu Cowboys, pinned a4-0 loss on <strong>Ak</strong>-<strong>Chin</strong> in the finals of theSan Lucy Wildcats Dusty Face LittleLeague Baseball Tournament.The one day tournament had theA’s matched against the hometownteam, San Lucy Wildcats. <strong>Ak</strong>-<strong>Chin</strong> usedstrong defense and timely hitting to pushacross a few runs early before coastingto a 6-1 victory.In the second match, the Cowboysfrom Chui Chu who defeated <strong>Ak</strong>-<strong>Chin</strong>in the title game in <strong>Ak</strong>-<strong>Chin</strong> a fewweeks before, plated 2 runs early andwithstood any <strong>Ak</strong>-<strong>Chin</strong> rally for a 2-0victory.The loss gave <strong>Ak</strong>-<strong>Chin</strong> a 1-1 recordas they headed into a third roundmeeting with the Bad News Judams ofthe Tohono O’odham Nation.The Judams and <strong>Ak</strong>-<strong>Chin</strong> slugged itout throughout the game, as each teamplated run after run.
