Thislearn-by-doing project provides members withthe unique opportunity to gain many valuablelife skills such as communication, criticalthinking, financial management, organization,responsibility, confidence and leadership. Buyer registration will begin at 10a.m. and will continue at 12 p.m. in the arenabehind the sale ring. All Buyers are requiredto submit a current address, phone numberand driver’s license number. From 11 a.m. to12 p.m. you will have an opportunity to meetand greet the 4-H livestock project membersparticipating in the sale in a relaxed and funsetting in the other half of the Dance Tent.QUALITYQuality is the goal of all 4-H members whobring some of the finest animals raised in ElPaso County to the Junior Livestock Sale.Your participation in the sale is a tribute to theyouth as you recognize and reward quality byhelping to “Make the best better” our 4-HMotto.HOW THE SALE WORKSAnimals are sold by the head, not by the pound.The floor price for that day will be announced atthe sale.As each animal is led into the ring theauctioneer will start the bidding. If you wish tobid on a particular 4-H member’s animal, raiseyour hand to signal the bid. Make sure aringman or the auctioneer acknowledges yourbid. The highest bidder buys the animal.Once you purchase an animal you have thefollowing options: elect to have your animal customslaughtered for your own use:o you will pay bid price and theanimal will be sent to the packerof your choice (remember to callyour packer and give him cuttingand packaging instructions)o you pay the processing costs or you may designate the animal to beresold also called buybacko The Junior Livestock SaleCommittee will buy back theanimal at market valueo In this case, the buyer isobligated only for the differencebetween the market price andthe full bid price.HOW TO PURCHASE IF YOU CANNOTATTEND THE SALEIf you would like to support the sale, but cannotattend the auction, contact Aleta Fields, SaleManager at (719) 478-5560 or (719) 892-0275she will explain the options and bidding thatcan be done for you. You may also set a limiton the amount you wish to spend. You willneed to fill out the necessary paperwork prior tothe sale.ADD-ON SUPPORTIn addition you may opt to just add a set dollaramount for a specific 4-H member’s animal.This can be accomplished by filling out an Add-On slipPAYMENT AFTER THE SALEPayment is expected the day of the sale via cashor check. Champion buyers are invited to bepart of the media’s champion animal picturestaken immediately following the sale of each lot.PUBLICITYEach successful buyer will receive a buyer’splaque, special edition hat, and a color pictureof the 4-H member and animal for display inhis/her business.
