Communicating CIPE ImpactDr. MuhametMustafa, AnaDolidze, and AnwarIbrahim (clockwisefrom left) discussdemocratic andeconomic re<strong>for</strong>mat CIPE’s Forumroundtables.Forum on Economic FreedomDemocracies and market economies depend on the freeflow of in<strong>for</strong>mation between individuals and across nationalborders – helping public officials, citizens, the private sector, andother civil society leaders exchange ideas and share successfulapproaches to re<strong>for</strong>m. Throughout <strong>2007</strong>, the Forum on EconomicFreedom provided resources on democratic and economic re<strong>for</strong>mthrough a variety of electronic and conventional tools, includingarticles, CIPE’s website, a listserv, the CIPE Development Blog,policy papers, and roundtables. Founded in the themes relatedto CIPE’s on-the-ground work in more than 100 countries –including democratic governance, business advocacy, post-conflictreconstruction, anti-corruption, and corporate governance –Forum allows CIPE partners to build on each other’s successes andlearn from past challenges. Forum is also an avenue <strong>for</strong> CIPE topromote understanding of democracy and market economy withina wide audience. The program captures and shares CIPE’s successstories, such as those highlighted in this annual report.impact on Re<strong>for</strong>m• CIPE Feature Service articlesgenerated new in<strong>for</strong>mation ondemocratic and economic re<strong>for</strong>m <strong>for</strong>a wide network of re<strong>for</strong>mers, thinktanks, NGOs, associations, andacademic institutions. The articles alsoreached new audiences with existingin<strong>for</strong>mation.• Through the CIPE Development Blog,users participate in discussion aboutissues of growing importance, suchas democratic governance, propertyrights, and youth empowerment.• Forum reaches individuals in areaswith controlled access to in<strong>for</strong>mation,with CIPE’s website and blogreceiving significant traffic fromcountries such as China, Venezuela,and Zimbabwe.48
