<strong>KOTO</strong> <strong>Vocational</strong> <strong>Training</strong> <strong>Centre</strong>- a social enterprise model


Foreword• <strong>KOTO</strong>’s 24-month hospitality, English and life skills program enablesVietnam’s street and disadvantaged youth to acquire the skills to gainemployment and break the poverty cycle.• <strong>KOTO</strong> provides a family environment where the trainees can be themselvesand grow into happy, confident young adults ready for the rigors of thehospitality industry and to deal with life’s challenges.• <strong>KOTO</strong> is a not for profit social enterprise and is free of charge for trainees toattend. <strong>KOTO</strong>’s revenue comes largely from its restaurants and cateringservice, as well as its trainee sponsorship program. All profit is investedback into the organisation for the good of the trainees.• Recruited trainees are further provided with initial heal checks, vaccinations,uniforms, laundry, meals, accommodation in shared housing, and a monthlytraining allowance.


OUR MISSIONWe believe street and disadvantaged youth should have access to holistic andvocational skill development opportunities, in a nurturing environment, where eachfamily member builds self-confidence and is empowered to live a life of dignity andhappiness.OUR VISIONAs a social enterprise that provides positive change to the lives of street anddisadvantaged youth, our vision is to be increasingly internationally prominent andsuccessful, allowing us to spread our model to more communities. Wherever there isabandonment, neglect and abuse, we will be there.OUR CULTUREWe are a family who cares about all others and where big smiles bring the promise oflove, compassion and security. Recruiting trainees• Every six months, we recruit up to 30 street ordisadvantaged youths (16-22 years old) whocome from extremely difficult life circumstances.• Youths will have to send in their applications forscreening round• Potential trainees will be invited for Open Day –learn more about <strong>KOTO</strong>, take basic literary andmath tests• <strong>KOTO</strong> will visit homes of suitable applicants andinterview those who have passed this stage• Recruitment process usually takes up to 3months depending on the number of applicationsreceived.


<strong>Training</strong> CurriculumsFront of HouseKitchen• Our curriculum are accredited by Box Hill Institute of Australia.• Our trainees graduate with not only the <strong>KOTO</strong> certificate ofcompletion, but also an internationally recognised hospitalityaccreditation.

<strong>Training</strong> Curriculums• By month 18 th , trainees will move out of <strong>KOTO</strong> house with <strong>KOTO</strong>sfinancial support and start their independent living period as smallgroups or individual.• During their traineeship trainees are also required to do 15 hours ofcompulsory community service per year. Their way of giving back tothe community includes: visiting orphanages, feeding and caring forthe elderly, and joining environmental protection projects. In additiontrainees take part in our annual Winter Appeal event where theyprovide food, clothing and entertainment to a leper colony.


Trainees benefits after 24 month trainingprogram• Receive an international recognised Certificate II in HospitalityIndustry from Box Hill TAFE Institute in Australia.• Achieve professional hospitality skills• Find good jobs in hospitality industry• Join <strong>KOTO</strong> Alumni – where they will have a greater chance to accessadvance training programs, to participate social events or jobopportunities, and to further education scholarships.
