The i2i <strong>School</strong> <strong>Direct</strong>Teacher Training ProgrammeThe i2i Partnership is an alliance <strong>of</strong> highly successful secondary schools in Surrey and Hampshire, with Weydon<strong>School</strong> operating as the lead for Initial Teacher Training. <strong>School</strong>s in the partnership range from the ethnically diverseand inner city, to rural and market town but share a common attribute in that we <strong>of</strong>fer an outstanding pr<strong>of</strong>essionaltraining experience for graduates new to teaching. Secondly, there is the expectation that at the end <strong>of</strong> ourprogramme, there will be a job opportunity within the partnership to outstanding qualified teachers. Our premier PGCE programme is designed to provide you with a first classfoundation for outstanding teaching. We believe that our programme, developed with Chichester University, isunique. In year one, you will focus on developing outstanding teaching and learning and gain your PGCE, qualityassured by our outstanding partner. In year two, you may choose to build on your qualification to include Mastersaccreditation, at no extra cost. Both the lead school and the University <strong>of</strong> Chichester, our accredited provider, are rated as Outstanding. Our PGCEInitial Teacher Training programme will:Be based around school experience with most training delivered at the lead schools on a weekly basis, incollaboration with the University <strong>of</strong> Chichester.Lead to PGCE with Masters Credits (linking to your continuing pr<strong>of</strong>essional development within thepartnership).Lead to a planned career path within our partnership, provided we are able to <strong>of</strong>fer you a position.Features <strong>of</strong> the bespoke i2i programme:‣ InductionWe believe that you should feel prepared and comfortable about the school environment before thestudents arrive in September. The <strong>School</strong> <strong>Direct</strong> Route into TeachingThere are two routes through which graduates can apply to the <strong>School</strong> <strong>Direct</strong> Programme:Salaried routeAn employment-based route available to graduates with at least three years’ work experience. Successfulapplicants will earn a salary whilst they train.Non-salaried routeThis route is available to all graduates and <strong>of</strong>fers tax-free bursaries <strong>of</strong> up to £20,000 for candidates with topdegrees in priority subjects.What are the selection criteria for the i2i Partnership <strong>School</strong> <strong>Direct</strong> route?Priority will be given to those with first or second class university degree, although aptitude for teaching will be amajor consideration.To train as a teacher on any programme you must have a grade C in GCSE English and Mathematics as aminimum.You will have demonstrated experience <strong>of</strong> working with secondary aged students, for at least a two-week period.You will have a commitment to comprehensive education and to working with students from a range <strong>of</strong> socialand cultural backgrounds.You will be required to undergo an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check to verify your suitability for workingwith young people.<strong>School</strong> Experience ProgrammeCurrently Weydon <strong>School</strong>, <strong>Howard</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Effingham</strong> and Broadwater <strong>School</strong> are all <strong>of</strong>fering schoolexperience via the <strong>School</strong> Experience Programme. Skills testWe will be <strong>of</strong>fering opportunities to take part in a one-day intensive refresher course should you wishto brush up on your skills prior to booking your test. How do I apply?First <strong>of</strong> all, if you have not already done so, you will need to sign up with the Teaching Agency to receive yourregistration number. Information on how to do this can be found at:www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching or call the Teaching Information Line (TIL) on Freephone0800 389 2500.You will initially apply online through the Teaching Agency web page. We will then lead the recruitmentprocess with our partner schools. Places are filled following a successful interview process, so please applyearly.Cohort 2: Applications by 30 th April 2013.
