MAKE A BOOKINGA booking can be made in the Vehicle Booking System onthe internet or through the AXIS Road Office if you do not haveaccess to Internet.REGISTER AS A USERYou need to be a registered user to be able to log on.You can contact:Janita Barton 09 3091311 - ext 8036bartonj@axis-intermodal.co.nzto register your company and the staff you would want to usethe Vehicle Booking System.Log on to the <strong>VBS</strong>Is done through the AXIS Intermodal website:http://www.axis-intermodal.co.nzYou will be asked to provide ABN number - Username - Password.A booking is for one containerIf a truck brings in 1 container and picks up 2 containers a total<strong>of</strong> 3 bookings will have to be made.A booking is made against a time slotEach time slot has a designated number <strong>of</strong> moves for eitherimport or export containers and reflects the capacity <strong>of</strong> theterminal for that specific time slot.A time slot is an hourThe Vehicle Booking System is active 7 x 24, so each dayhas 24 time slots, starting with slot 0 from 00:00 to 00:59and ending with slot 23 from 23:00 to 23:59.


Booking time & detailsA Provisional booking can be made up to 7 days in advanceand must be confirmed at the latest at 15:00 on the day beforethe pick-up or delivery.An Import booking requires a container number to beconfirmed by 15:00 the day before pick-up, but can be changedup to the timeslot it is booked for.An Export container can be confirmed with only container size,but it is recommended to register as many details as you haveand also use the AXIS E-note.AXIS EXPRESS Import containers and export containers thathave been E-noted can be processed in AXIS Express which willallow automated gate entry.Booking time Last CallA booking can be made up to 30 minutes into the time zone,so a booking in a time zone from 08:00 to 08:59 can be madeuntil 08:30 - if there is a free time slot.Maximum number <strong>of</strong> bookingsA carrier can book max four containers in a one-hourtime slot.Two days before pick-up/delivery at 16:00 the maximumwill be lifted and more containers can be booked if slotsare available.Swap Booking Time Slots.An Import booking can be swapped with an Export bookinguntil they have been confirmed.


ooking Release timesBookings will be released progressively every day fromseven days prior to delivery.Two days prior to pick-up or delivery at 16:00 hours all availableslots will be released.The day before pick-up or delivery at 15:00 hours any importslots without container numbers will be released back intothe pool for other carriers to use.If nobody picks up those slots you will be responsible forthe payment <strong>of</strong> a “no-show” fee. A no-show penalty / feewill not apply until <strong>VBS</strong> is fully implemented early 2008.Empty container BookingsEmpty containers have special rules, specifically as theycannot always be booked ahead <strong>of</strong> time.Empty containers returned to POAL:If they arrive without a booking they will be treated as if theyhad one and had arrived on time.Empty Exports:These containers have shipping company booking references,specific vessels and discharge ports, and must be booked.Empty releases from the Empty Yard:Empty containers being picked up for exports will not requirea booking, and will be processed by the AXIS Road Officeupon arrival.Empty import containers <strong>of</strong>f vessels:Must be booked as any other import container.


BUlk RunsIf a carrier has a larger number <strong>of</strong> containers that has to be pickedup in random order, this can be negotiated with the Road Office,who will then make the bookings.The requirements are that:There must be a minimum <strong>of</strong> five containers per hour fora minimum <strong>of</strong> any three hours per day = 15 containers.The containers must be picked up in random order, basedon a list <strong>of</strong> containers not on hold, delivered by the carrier.The Bulk Run facility will not be available until later.Arrival ON TIMEA truck that arrives within the booked timeslot will be able to gostraight through to the Terminal, either via the AXIS Express Kioskor with a Card # received when processing at the AXIS Road Office.The definition <strong>of</strong> “on-time” is that:“ If the truck arrives 15 minutes before or after the time zone, this willbe considered as having arrived “on-time” and the truck will be givenaccess to the terminal.”Example: A truck that arrives 07:46 for time zone 8 (from 08:00 to 08:59)will be on time. The total “on-time window”is thus 1 ½ hours.Out-<strong>of</strong>-town trucks are those that arrive from a pack zonemore than 100 kms from <strong>Ports</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Auckland</strong>. They will be allowedan extra 30 minutes on each side <strong>of</strong> the “on-time” window.Example: An out-<strong>of</strong>-town truck that arrives 07:16 for time zone 8(from 08:00 to 08:59) will be considered on time. The total “on-timewindow” is thus 2 ½ hours.Early or LateTrucks that arrive early or late will be handled as and whencapacity permits. The priority will be given to those that arriveclosest to their time zone.
