This joint workshop involving GuluUniversity and Maseno University will be conducted by Resource Persons from AarhusUniversity - Denmark between 2nd and 5th October, 2012 in Gulu University,Uganda.During the four day workshop, there will be a general introduction on <strong>Research</strong> Design anddoing Comparative <strong>Research</strong>. Discussions will also be held on the <strong>Research</strong> Projects andConcept Paper Proposals.Eligibility• PhD students in the Humanities and <strong>Social</strong> <strong>Science</strong>s from Gulu University in Uganda,and Maseno University, Kenya.• Junior Scholars (assistant lecturers and tutorial fellows).• Masters Students at an advanced stage in their programmes, who intend to pursue PhDsfrom the above Universities, are also encouraged to apply.<strong>Application</strong> GuidelinesApplicants are required to submit a 3-5 page description of the proposed research theyintend to do. A maximum of 20 applications will be accepted.The proposed research project should include:• Title of the <strong>Research</strong>• Statement of the Problem• <strong>Research</strong> question(s) and a comment on the relevance of the project.• Definition of Core Concepts.• A Short Description of Theoretical Argument(s), Specific Propositions/Hypothesis, and,where applicable, a causal model.• A Brief discussion of the data and sources.• Account of <strong>Research</strong> Design (Cases & Methods).Submission Procedure<strong>Application</strong>s should be sent to the Resource Persons: Jørgen Møller ; and, Svend-Erik Skaaning ;Copy in the Project Coordinators:
