DISTRICT DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENTNATURAL RESOURCES ADMINISTRATIONWATERSHED PROTECTION DIVISIONThe District Floodplain Management ProgramThe mission of the Technical Services Branch is to protect the health,safety, <strong>and</strong> welf<strong>are</strong> of District residents by managing l<strong>and</strong> disturbingactivities to prevent accelerated soil erosion <strong>and</strong> sediment deposition in thePotomac <strong>and</strong> Anacostia Rivers <strong>and</strong> their tributaries. The Branch develops<strong>and</strong> implements programs in storm water management, erosion <strong>and</strong>sediment control, <strong>and</strong> floodplain management in support of the regulationof l<strong>and</strong> disturbing activities.
