A look ahead:
Rolling into Reno in 2012
Reno, Nev., has been a popular destination for the
USBC Women’s Championships, and 2012 will mark the
return of the tournament to The Biggest Little City in the
World.
The top-attended Women’s Championships have taken
place in Reno. In 1997, 16,704 teams competed at the
National Bowling Stadium to eclipse the previous record
of 14,872 teams that attended the 1988 tournament
held in Reno/Carson City. The Women’s Championships
has averaged more than 65,000 bowlers in Reno years
since 1988.
The 2012 Women’s Championships will be held at the
National Bowling Stadium. But that’s just the start of the
tournament’s run in Reno.
In 2013, for the first time in history, the USBC Open
and Women’s Championships will be held in the same
city simultaneously. The Women’s Championships will
head down the street to a custom-built arena inside
the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. USBC will install
dozens of lanes and the largest mobile scoreboard
in the world to continue the spectacular feel bowlers
expect at the Women’s Championships. The 2013 Open
Championships will be at the National Bowling Stadium.
