<strong>JOB</strong> <strong>DESCRIPTION</strong>Title:Location:Reporting to:Type of Contract:Full Time/Part Time/Relief:Events Fundraiser<strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>, High Street, DublinEvents, Community and Regional FundraiserPermanentFull TimePrimary Purpose:<strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong> has developed an ambitious strategy to - prevent homelessness ever occurringfor as many people as possible, to provide effective support and solutions to homelessnessfor those who do become homeless and to also continue to provide a safe and secure homesfor its current and future customers.The Events Fundraiser will play an integral part in delivering the <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong> 2011-2016Fundraising and Marketing Strategy.Specifically the Events Fundraiser will be responsible for developing <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>’sFundraising Events and Annual Flag Day - Key to A Home’s Fundraising activities so that by2016 this will contribute of the overall €10Million annual income by 2016 target. Specificallythe targeted income within these income streams in 2011 is €662k in Event income and€150,000 from <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>’s National Collection.In order to achieve these targets the Events Fundraiser is responsible for the leadership andmanagement of <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>’s Events Fundraising team and the implementation of itsfundraising strategies and related activities.As part of the overall Event, Community and Regional Fundraising team the EventsFundraiser also play a key role in the leadership and development of this teams <strong>Focus</strong><strong>Ireland</strong>’s Fundraising and Marketing strategies.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic and implementation plans• Develop of Event Fundraising strategies to achieve annual income, expenditure andnumbers of participants and supporter KPI’s in line with overall 2011-2016 Strategy.• Develop and implement an operational plan to achieve these KPI’s.• Overseeing the effective implementation of the plan, to include ongoing monitoringand reporting on performance against KPI’s• Development of Event Participant supporter relationship strategy and implementationplan to enhance the supporter’s relationship with <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>, motivate repeatparticipation/support and build supporter lifetime value.1 Job Description 2011


Staff Management• Foster a team culture of that is target driven, encourages growth, being customerfocussedand responsive to changing needs, action oriented, having opencommunication and encouraging use of initiative and a solution and outcomefocussed behaviour• Overall management, control and operation of Events Fundraising Team whichcurrently comprises – 2 Events Assistant, National Collection Fundraiser and anEvents Administrator• Team management including team reviews, appraisals, objective setting andsupervision that develops and retains a dedicated, efficient and effective teamcommitted to the Ethos and Values of <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>• Ongoing assessment and recommendation on size and structure of teamResearch and Fundraising Innovation• Analyse and research the Fundraising Events market place both within and outside<strong>Ireland</strong> to identify, propose and implement best practice.• Identify, propose and implement development and innovation opportunities Eventsand Regional Fundraising• Work closely with Services and Finance Departments to identify the appropriateServices or Capital projects that can be utilised to increase appeal of Events andRegional Fundraising campaignsCross-team working• Work with other managers and staff across the organisation, to ensure thatFundraising requirements are met as effectively as possible, and each relationship ismanaged for the optimum benefit of the whole organisation.Systems• Manage Events processes ensuring best practice governance is adopted at all timesBudgets• Management of cost and expenditure budgets on an on-going basis ensuring allactivity is implemented within budget and within defined cost ratio’sGeneral• Undertake any relevant work delegated by the Director of Fundraising and Marketing• Share <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>’s values, participate as a full member of the <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong> teamand support activities across the whole organisation as appropriate.Essential Criteria• Ability to prioritise, plan and organise own workload• At least 3 year’s experience of Event, Community or Regional Fundraising• Professional communication skills, including excellent presentation skills, sales skillsand strong writing ability in all mediums (online and offline)• Strong creative ability specifically in the area of problem solving and budgets• Excellent interpersonal skills to lead and motivate staff, volunteers and supporters• Strong empathy with and for the organisations customers, volunteers and supporters.• Computer literate with strong word, excel and power point skills• Knowledge of the charity market and the environment in which <strong>Focus</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong> works• Hold a third level qualification2 Job Description 2011


• The successful candidate will need to show reasonable flexibility in relation to hoursof attendance to meet the needs of the work.
