Oman Radio opts for Trilogy Intercom and Reference GeneratorsGemini Intercom will work alongside Mentor XL to ensure the continued success of Oman RadioAndover, UK – 30 April 2012 - Trilogy Communications, the global provider of intercom systems andMaster Reference Generators to the broadcast industry, today announced that it had been awardedthe contract to supply audio communications and referencing equipment to a major Gulf Statesbroadcaster. This award is part of a significant refurbishment to the broadcaster’s radio studiofacilities which includes audio consoles, routers and the entire communications system. The work isto be carried out by systems integrator All Systems International (ASI) Ltd and will be completed inearly 2012. When complete the refurbishment will provide a substantial upgrade to thebroadcaster’s capabilities. The contract covers both a GeminiIntercom system for audio communicationsand Mentor XL Master ReferenceGenerators to provide essentialsynchronising and referencing signals for allof the audio systems. The dual redundantsystem generates AES and Wordclockreference signals in addition to Timecodeand NTP using GPS receivers to maintain signal integrity and synchronisation. This contractcontinues Trilogy’s presence in the region which extends back to their first Commandercommunications systems installed in 2002 with this same broadcaster.Although the primary function is to provide intercom between studios this project does have anumber of features that are more commonly found in radio than television production. Theseinclude the automatic control of programme speaker muting or dimming during communications. The other key requirement was to allow studio personnel to be able to communicate with theircounterparts in the other facilities. This will be facilitated using the native support found in Geminifor SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) connectivity. The use of SIP will allow Trilogy’s latest generationof Gemini Intercoms to interface with other intercom systems via a standard SIP server, providing a

level of interoperability previously not possible whilst also protecting the client’s previousinvestments. Although SIP has been promoted by the EBU to allow audio to be exchanged freelybetween intercom manufacturers adhering to the EBU specification, Gemini’s enhancedfunctionality will permit users in disparate systems to call each other using a single button press.Commenting on the contract Zubair Sabawi, Managing Director of ASI Ltd said “This is a prestigiouscontract and having looked at all the options we felt the Trilogy solution is the best fit both in termsof features and reliability.” He continued “Trilogy’s reputation for reliable customer support is also amajor plus point for ASI.”About Trilogy CommunicationsTrilogy has supplied audio communications equipment to customers in more than seventy countriessince 1986.
