KudosKudos to Ms. Miller (parent liaison-mentor coordinator), Thomas Lewis (custodian-mentor coordinator),Mr. Clark (parental volunteer), Mrs. Deaver (parent volunteer),Danisha Barrett (Shaw volunteer),Jolonda Longino (Shaw volunteer), Shanti Coaston (Bellefaire counselor-mentor coordinator),Mrs. Proctor (parental volunteer, café worker) for all their help to with the cheerleaders, Boy’s & Girl’sBasketball teams.‣ Kudos to our Girl’s the Pal Basketball Champions of <strong>East</strong> <strong>Cleveland</strong>!!!‣ Kudos to Mrs. Lox on a fine lesson! On 3/15 the students were Actively Engaged with the thumbs up/thumbs downactivity. Relevance was supplemented as the connection to the text was made. When the text presented a tier 2 word,“bundle”, she immediately fast- mapped the word by paraphrasing it with a definition that included a connection tothe students’ reality.‣ Kudos to Mrs. Ernest! Using the Reading 180: SRI Assessment tool, 20 out of 26 students demonstratedsignificant growth. In fact, the average gains were a whopping +114 points from 12/14/09 to 3/18/10.‣ Kudos to Mrs. Jastromb! On 3/16, a pizza party was awarded to 28 students that demonstrated regular attendanceand an un-common work-ethic in her Breakfast Math program.‣ Kudos to Mrs. Martin for implementing the OAT/OAA Café Contest each day.2


Kudos‣ Kudos to the Prospect Cheerleaders! Their performance at the P.A.L. BasketballChampionship attractive city-wide attention. Subsequently, they have been invited to acity-wide cheerleading completion being held at Warrensville Hts. Middle School on May28, 2010 at 6pm.Kudos‣ Kudos to Mrs. Crystal Harris, Prospect Olweus Bullying Chairperson, for conducting asurvey on students’ attitudes and awareness of bullying. The survey revealed somealarming trends in their testing behavior:‣ Based on a sample of 40 students:-15 students wrote/marked all over the survey-1 student wrote out the answers instead of bubbling in the circles as directed.- 1 student did not indicate mark the answers as directed.-37 students did not use the X method for changing answers as directed.-36 students did not answer all the questions.-5 students used pen instead of pencil.‣ As a result of this study, proper test proctoring has been reinforced and refined.3
