Company Description<strong>Voss</strong> <strong>Industries</strong>, Inc., an employee-owned small business based in Cleveland, Ohio, is a verticallyintegrated corporation with an international client base. <strong>Voss</strong> is composed of three operatingdivisions: <strong>Voss</strong> Aerospace, Clamp Technology and <strong>Voss</strong> Technologies.Key product lines include extensive prototype and OEM components consisting of sheet metal andmachined V-retainer couplings and mated flanges, band clamps, strap assemblies, sheet metal ducting,bulge-formed shapes, custom-welded fabrications, and specialty fasteners.Diverse manufacturing capabilities include CNC machining, precision stamping and fabricating, roll forming,axial–load bulge forming, deep drawing and cold heading operations. Additional expertise is found in <strong>Voss</strong>’capabilities of seam, resistance and fusion welding, metal finishing and mil-spec painting.The aforementioned are enhanced through in–house design and development, tooling, prototyping andtesting. Quality Assurance Programs are compliant to ISO 9001:2008, AS9100C and CFR14, Part 21.Additionally, <strong>Voss</strong> is certified to Nadcap requirements for welding, chemical processing, non-destructivetesting and fluid systems. All systems are designed to meet or exceed industry requirements.Established in 1957, the Clamp Technology division serves the industrial marketplace producing customclamp and coupling devices for a broad spectrum of OEM applications, from cryogenic to high temperaturesystems. Key markets include heavy-duty truck, diesel engine, locomotive engines and componentmanufacturers; excavation equipment agricultural, food and chemical processing; communicationsindustries and numerous applications for joining ducting, filtration and processing systems.Since 1970, <strong>Voss</strong> has supplied a variety of components to all major airframe, jet engine and space vehiclemanufacturers. <strong>Voss</strong> Aerospace was formally established in 1986 to specifically serve the high-techrequirements for the aerospace and defense markets. The primary applications of <strong>Voss</strong> Aerospaceproducts are commercial & military pneumatic ducting components for APU’s environmental control, bleedair and deicing systems, jet engine components, missile components, accessory attachments, landing gear,breaking systems, aircraft exhaust and FAA/PMA replacement parts.Among the many customers <strong>Voss</strong> Aerospace serves are Boeing, Lockheed Martin, <strong>Air</strong>bus (EADS), RollsRoyce, General Electric, BAE, Cessna, Gulf Stream, Eclipse, Raytheon, Goodrich, Embraer, SeniorAerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Bombardier, Hamilton Sundstrand, Barnes Aerospace, Honeywell, Northrop,Mitsubishi, Bell/Textron, Augusta, Sikorsky, ATK and Meggitt Aerospace.In 1994, The <strong>Voss</strong> Technologies division was created to explore product opportunities in other high-techmarkets such as hydrogen fuel cells, medical technology and telecommunications applications.<strong>Voss</strong> earned the prestigious President’s “E” Award in 2008 for contributing significantly to the effort ofincreasing United States exports. In order to maintain its world leader status in the aerospace industry,current and new employees must be the best trained in the field. Every year, the company commitsnumerous hours, as well as money, to sustain this position.<strong>Voss</strong> continually trains and retrains its employees in areas including Shop Math, Blueprint Reading,Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, English as a Second Language, supervisor workshops,continued education, new employee orientation and ongoing departmental training.As part of the company’s commitment to its employees, <strong>Voss</strong> offers training programs that improve valuableskills necessary to reduce cost and improve quality and increase production. In order to achieve thesegoals, the following classes are offered as in-house training courses:English as a Second Language (ESL) / This class helps eliminate gaps in communication among coworkers.Along with ESL classes, the company also helps employees increase reading comprehension.Basic Shop Math / This class is offered to employees needing instruction and review of the basicfunctions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole and mixed numbers, fractions,decimals and conversions. The class also includes an introduction to basic measurement instructionand application.Basic Blueprint Reading / This course offers employees the opportunity to improve their glossary ofterms and definitions used in blueprint reading. It also improves their knowledge in symbols, shopnotes, scale tolerances, size and locations of dimensions.Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) / This class teaches employees how tounderstand complex geometrical descriptions through a symbolic language on engineering drawingsand models.Process Delegated Inspector Certification (PDI) / To insure our employees take ownership in themanufacturing process, <strong>Voss</strong> has trained and certified 44 employees as PDIs. This certification allowsthem to inspect and sign off work in their areas or responsibility. This ability reduces inspection timeand promotes greater employee independence. This program has proven to be very valuable in the<strong>Voss</strong> manufacturing process.Internal Auditing / <strong>Voss</strong> developed and trained an internal auditing of 10 employees. The courseensures individuals auditing the <strong>Voss</strong> Business Operating System (BOS) have a thoroughunderstanding of good auditing practices, confidence in conducting audits, good interview skills and theability to develop objective evidence. Internal auditing has become a very important part of maintainingour highly effective quality system.Statistical Process Control (SPC) / Personnel at all levels of the organization receive basic SPCtraining. SPC is used as the main mode of acceptance for a number of <strong>Voss</strong> parts.


New Employee Training / Helping a new employee understand the systems and the culture of acompany in fundamental to their success and efficiency. This training covers all aspects of thecompany’s health and safety program, the Business Operating System (BOS) and the benefit package.The BOS explains the structure of the quality system and the importance of the <strong>Voss</strong> policy statement.Initial training also includes information regarding hazardous communication, lockout-tagout (LOTO),personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency response. Each new employee also receivesdepartment specific training from department supervisors.Computer Training / This course provides basic knowledge of the company’s server system as wellas the INFONET (information network) of the company. Through increased training the company hasseen increased efficiency company wide.Supervisor Development Course / This course aims to develop the leadership, interpersonal,performance management and process management skills of front line supervisors and companyleaders.In addition to in-house training, <strong>Voss</strong> supports the continued education of it employees by offering$2500.00/year for tuition and total reimbursement for textbook/fees.
