ObeyingAllah while enjoying His graces, refrainingfrom the acts of disobedience, and followingHis laws is the most effective means ofsuccess and prosperity in this world, and inthe world to come.The Shari'ah prohibits man fromcommitting suicide, because man's own lifedoes not belong to him. It is Allah whoowns it. Allah has entrusted man with itthat he may use it for a limited period oftime, not to abuse it, or terminate it withhis own hand.The Rights of human beingsShari'ah has commanded man to fulfillhis own rights, on one hand, while, on the6l
other, it has commanded him to do sowithout encroaching on the rights of others.If a person fulfills his desires in rhismanner, he would defile and injure himself.It is for this reason the Shari'ah has madeunlawful robbing, stealing, bribery,treachery, forgery, treason, usury, and thelike. Any profit or interest accrued throughsuch methods would be accrued on accountof others. Shari'ah prohibits all games ofchance, because whatever gain a gamblermay make out of gambling, or lottery, itwould be based on the losses of thousands ofpeople. Prohibited too are all forms ofbartering that involve cheating, ordeceiving, and all other financialtransactions that may entail injustice to oneof the two parties.Homicide, promoting corruption onearth, and transgression are all prohibited.No one is allowed to kill or hurt another, orembezzle his property, for the sake ofsatisfying his thirst for revenge.62
