The NTIS Database and Related ProductsSection I2IntroductionThe NTIS Database contains summaries of scientific, technical,engineering, and business information products acquired by NTISfrom 1964 to the present. Printed or microform indexes provideaccess to the titles that predate the online database. The databaseis available to the public through a number of commercialvendors that are listed in Section V. The NTIS Database isupdated on a weekly basis by NTIS. However, commercialvendor update schedules can vary.The NTIS Database combines unclassified input from theDepartment of Defense, Department of Energy, and NASA,with that of numerous other government agencies, among whichare the Environmental Protection Agency, National Instituteof Standards and Technology, and Department of the Interior,to offer users a wide range of information resources. The fullreports are available from NTIS for almost 90 percent of the titlesannounced on the database. There are more than 600,000 titlesavailable in digital format.Leasing the NTIS DatabaseOrganizations making frequent use of the NTIS Database forresearch purposes, or wanting to develop and distribute valueaddedproducts, may wish to consider leasing the NTIS Databasedirectly from NTIS.
