The leaderswho established Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute may not have known exactly whatkind of impact that investment would have, but they did envision what they hoped the universitywould become. Today, nearly 17,000 students attend UL Lafayette and the university is in a positionfor tremendous growth. A growth that would not be possible without the generosity of our donors.Our donors recognize the importance of investing in higher education. An investment to UL Lafayetteinvolves much more than a dollar figure. It is an investment in the students who attend the universitytoday and in the future. It’s an investment in the faculty, to ensure top tier educators and researcherscome to Lafayette and stay. It’s an investment in athletics and the coaches who will take our teamsto the next level.No matter what the investment is, it has an impact. Whether the degree of the impact is small orlarge, it has a far reaching effect. An effect that allows us to envision a university with thousandsof new students, professors recognized for their breakthrough research and an athletic programwith national rankings and conference titles.110 years ago, there were only 100 students and eight faculty on campus. It is amazing to see theimpact an investment can have.
