Contract of employment• Permanent/ Temporary? – Permanent• Full time/Part time? – Full time• Notice required for dismissal/resignation – One month• Number of hours worked per week – 47.5 hours per week• Length of service with the company – 7 years5.Key ResponsibilitiesTo supervise the day-to-day running of the café in accordance with the aims andobjectives described as the purpose of Heeley City Farm Café6. Tasks/Activities1) ensuring that we have sufficient supplies needed to maintain the daily menu.2) to <strong>org</strong>anise the preparation and cooking of whatever is necessary to maintain thedaily menu3) to supervise other café workers (staff and volunteers) in their work4) to assist in the planning and other operational practices required when putting onspecial events i.e. buffets, children’s parties or any Farm events like the HeeleyFestival, Autumn Show, etc.5) To cash up each day including completing takings sheets for each day6) provide induction training (including health & safety, general farm rules andetiquette) to all workers, volunteers and trainees7) to ensure that all members of staff and any new members have up to date health &hygiene certificates and to liase with the Training Manager regarding otherrelevant training opportunities.8) to attend Farm staff meetings9) ensure that all Café staff are made fully aware of customer service commitments10) ensure the café building, equipment and furnishing are properly maintained11) ensure the café areas inside and out, are clean, safe and hygienic at all times; andthat adequate security measures are taken.12) ensure that basic cleaning duties are carried out


13) to ensure that a monthly staffing rota is <strong>org</strong>anised taking into account anyadditional bookings, staff holidays, illnesses etc14) To carry out other duties as required by the Line Manager from time to time.7. Opportunities for decision making and problem solvingMost operational decisions will be made by the Café <strong>Supervisor</strong> but any matters thatinvolve significant health and safety issues, significant expenditure (over £200) willbe discussed with the line manager. Matters relating to menus, purchasing andcatering operations in the café are normally the exclusive responsibility of the Café<strong>Supervisor</strong> and she does not need to consult in advance with others.8. Skills requiredAn ability to <strong>org</strong>anise and undertake the preparation of wholesome food and to give ahigh quality of service to customers. Motivational skills to keep a small team of staffand volunteers working well in situations where there can be considerable pressuresuch as at bu<strong>sy</strong> times, dealing with difficult customers, working in close confines andsometimes hot conditions.9. Qualifications requiredQualifications or sufficient experience in the following:• Health & Safety procedures and policies of Heeley City Farm• Basic Hygiene certificate (additional qualifications desirable)• Catering including diet and nutrition• Child protection and the protection of vulnerable adults10. Personal qualities requiredA supportive nature towards staff and volunteers and an ability to lead by example inthe day to day work of running a bu<strong>sy</strong> café. Ability to deal with customer relationsmatters such as dissatisfied customers or customers with particular needs.11.OptionalPay scale - Scale 4, SP 18 – 21.<strong>Be</strong>nefits – Pension paid at 8% of salary.
