EnglishThis term the children will be developing stylesof writing. We will be creating narratives, biographiesand newspaper reports based on our IPCtopic, Footprints from the Past.We will also be creating a non-chronologicalreport on various types of dinosaurs and howthey lived. These areas are supported throughour use of non-fiction texts.During our writing weeks we will be enjoyingreading “Leon and the Place Between” as well assharing our whole class novel, Fairy Tales, TerryJones.MathematicsThis term the children will be looking closely at the fouroperations (+,-,x,÷) using various written methods to reachan answer using numbers up to 5000. We will also be lookingat data: analysing charts, collecting data and creatingour own bar graphs.Furthermore the children will be working on understandingproperties of two-dimensional and three-dimensionalshapes.The children will also be working on mental math strategieson a weekly basis through lesson based teaching as well asdaily Maths Meeting tasks.IPCOur IPC topic this term will be ‘Footprints from thePast: Before People’, an exciting topic about dinosaurs.In history, the children will be learning aboutwhere dinosaurs lived and for how long. They willresearch facts and create timelines of events. Ingeography, we will work with maps and locate continentsand countries. In Science, we will investigatedinosaur habitats and how they adapted tothese as well as making classification keys. In art,the children will create their own threedimensionaldinosaur as well as dino-habitats. Weare also lucky to have an exciting trip to the NaturalHistory Museum where we will take on the role ofDino-Scientists for the day.Physical EducationP.E lessons will be on Monday. 3S will have anotherP.E lesson on a Tuesday, 3W will have anotherlesson on a Thursday. Please ensure thechildren have the correct kit and footwear totake part. Our first unit of work will be teamgames and ball skills.
